RIO 2016 is the summer Olympics which is going to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The games are scheduled from 5th to 21st August, 2016. Rio 2016 is an international multi sport event which includes 306 sets of medals in 28 sports. All the sporting events which are included in the RIO 2016 will take place at Brazil and in the large cities of Brazil. Some of the venue cities are Brasilia, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and Manaus. It is noted that Rio de Janeiro is the first Portuguese speaking country and the first South American city to host the Summer Olympics.
The motto of Rio 2016 Olympics is " A New World" (Portuguese: Um mundo novo)
Totally 207 Nations are participating in the summer Olympics and India is the one among those nations.
India in RIO 2016
India is one of the members of Olympic council of Asia (OCA). The IOC country code of India is IND. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is the National Olympic committee (NOC) of India and it has selected the players for RIO Olympics 2016 based on the Olympic guidelines. It is expected that 120 competitors will participate in 15 sports.
In the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, India's Ace shooter and the Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra will be the flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
IOA also has announced the Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Oscar winner AR Rahman and the popular Bollywood actor Salman Khan as the India's goodwill ambassador for the RIO Olympics 2016.

In the above mentioned sports, India is participating in both Men and Women categories. No female competitors are participating from India in boxing, judo and Rowing.
For the first time, more than 100 sportsperson are participating from India in the International Olympic Games.

Our athletes must give their best out put and surely they are going to be regarded and honored when they come back with good haul of gold , silver and bronze medals. Our athletes must remember that this time the competition is very hot in International arena as more new players in every discipline are going to show their profess and finesse and our players should be more dedicated than ever before, because they are not only playing for their glory but for the glory of this great country. Archery: Our medal hope rests on Deepika Kumari from Jharkhand. This experienced archer is one of the top players in her category.
Athelatics: Tintu Luka from Orissa has a faint hope of winning a medal in 800 m.
Badminton: Strong hope on Kidambi Srikanth, Saina, Sindhu, Jwala gutta and Ashwini Ponappa.
Boxing: Shiva Thapa is a medal prospect.
Field Hockey: Medal hope on our Men's team due to current performance.
Shooting: Strong hope on Jitu Rai, Gagan Narang and Abhinav Bindra. Experienced trap shooter Manavjit Sandhu is also in the reckoning. Heena Sidhu is also a medal prospect in women's shooting.
Table Tennis: Faint hope on experienced Sarath Kamal.
Tennis: Faint hope on Sania Mirza
Wrestling: Indian hope is on Narsingh and Yogeshwar Dutt
Golf: Anirban Lahiri is in good form.
Gymnastics: Dipa Karmakar from Tripura has already created a stir by qualifying. However, she is not a medal prospect.
