1. Proverb balloon game

  • Split the teams. Each team can have a maximum of 6 members

  • The coordinator should ask all the teams to select three proverbs. The proverbs should be kept secretly from the other teams.

  • Supply balloons to all the teams and ask them to blow the balloon and write the words of their proverb in each balloon. For E.g. If the team has selected the proverb "Haste makes waste" then they have to write haste in one balloon, makes in one balloon and waste in another balloon. In the similar way they have to write the words of all the three proverbs in the balloons.

  • Once the proverb balloons are ready. Draw a large circle or a square and ask any three members of team B to stand inside the square. The rest of the team B members should stand outside the square.

  • The coordinator should Shuffle the proverb balloons of Team A and should place the shuffled proverb balloons inside the square where the team B members are standing.

  • The timer should be set for 3 minutes. Once the timer starts, the Team B members who are standing inside the square have to frame the three proverbs and have to give the proverb balloons to the members who are standing outside the square.

  • The members standing outside the square have to tie the proverb balloons given by them.

  • Once the proverb balloons are tied separately. The members who are standing outside have to wear the tied proverb balloons on the neck of the members who are standing inside.

  • At the end, all the three members inside the square should have the three proverb garlands on their neck.

  • The team who finishes this task or the team who frames the maximum number of proverbs in 3 minutes is the winner.


2. Story cooking

  • Split the teams.

  • The coordinators have to write multiple words in a paper and have to place the folded papers inside a bowl. For e.g. Write words like Black, umbrella, rain, June, etc. in a separate paper and fold it.

  • Call a representative from each team.

  • Each representative has to pick 5 chits from the bowl.

  • Once all the team representative picks their chits. Set the timer for 5 minutes.

  • Each team has to use all the 5 words in their selected chits and have to come up with a creative story.

  • Once the time is over, a person from each team has to tell their creative story.

  • The team which cooks a tasty story with the 5 mandatory words is the winner.


3. Zoom

  • Split the teams.

  • The coordinators have to prepare multiple play sheets. Each sheet should contain 5 key points about 2 famous personalities .So totally 10 points should be present in a single play sheet. Instead of famous personalities, the key points about the popular members working inside the project can also be mentioned in the play sheet.

  • Ask a representative from a team to select one play sheet from the multiple play sheets available.

  • Set the timer for 2 minutes.

  • The team representative has to read the key points listed about the personalities in their selected play sheet and the rest of the members in the team have to guess and find the name of the two personalities.

  • The team which identifies the name of the two personalities with less number of guesses in 2 minutes is the winner.


4. Jigsaw puzzles

  • Split the teams

  • Provide jigsaw puzzle set with equal level of difficulty to all the teams.

  • Start the timer.

  • The team which solves the Jigsaw puzzle in a lesser span of time is the winner.


5. Jail Break

  • Split the teams

  • Each team has to select a representative. The representative in this game is a Robot.

  • The team members have to decide and set funny words for left, right, front and back. For E.g. Left-hello, Right-wow, front- zing , back- bingo. Any words can be decided by the team.

  • After deciding the funny words, the team has to tell their funny words to their Robot.

  • The Robot has to memorize the funny words correctly.

  • While the Robot is memorizing the funny words, the coordinator has to hide any object inside the same room. The location of the object should be revealed only to the team members and not to the Robot.

  • Draw a square and ask the members to stand inside the square. The square in this game is assumed to be a Jail.

  • The members inside the square have to direct their Robot to find the hidden object using their funny words. For e.g. If the team want their Robot to turn back they have to shout Bingo, to turn left they have to shout hello. In the same way the team have to direct the robot using their funny words.

  • Once the robot finds the object, the team members imprisoned inside the jail will be set free.


6. Observation

  • Split the teams. Each team should contain a maximum of 4 members.

  • Members from two teams should stand face to face.

  • Each member has to observe their opponent for 2 minutes.

  • After two minutes all the members should do some changes to themselves. For e.g changing the chain, ring, hair band, removing the ID card, etc.

  • After doing some changes, the teams have to stand in the same manner as before.

  • The members have to again observe their opponent for 2 minutes.

  • After 2 minutes, both the team members have to spot out their opponent's changes.

  • The team which spots maximum changes is the winner.


7. Mini treasure hunt

  • Split the teams.

  • Provide a play sheet separately to each team. The play sheet should contain the name of the objects present in the workplace.

  • Set the timer for 2 minutes.

  • The team members have to find the objects listed in their play sheet.

  • The team which identifies the maximum number of objects within 2 minutes is the winner.


8. Mini trivia Game

  • Split the teams

  • Provide a play sheet separately to each team. The play sheet should contain 10 questions from the current affairs or from any specific topic. All the team should be provided with the same set of questions
  • Set the timer for 2 minutes.

  • The team members have to find the answers for all the questions in their play sheet.

  • The team which identifies the maximum number of answers within 2 minutes is the winner.


9. Grouping

  • Split the teams

  • Provide a bowl of mixed chocolates to each team.

  • Assign points to each chocolate. For e.g. Dairy Milk-5 points, Kit Kat-4 points, etc.

  • Set the timer for 2 minutes.

  • Each team has to group the chocolates separately based on their name within 2 minutes.

  • Calculate the points based on the count of the separated chocolates. For e.g. If team A has collected 5 dairy milk and 2 Kit Kat then their total point is (5x5)+(2x4)=33 points

  • The team with the maximum number of points is the winner.


10. Identify the truth and lie

  • Split the teams.

  • The coordinators have to prepare multiple play sheets. Each sheet should contain 6 facts. Out of the 6 facts, 3 should be a true fact and 3 should be a false fact.

  • Ask a representative from a team to select one play sheet from the multiple play sheets available.
  • Set the timer for 2 minutes.

  • The team representative has to read the facts listed in the selected play sheet and the rest of the members in the team have to identify the true and the false facts.

  • The team which identifies the truth and the lie correctly within 2 minutes is the winner.

A very good article by the author which amply gives the tips on how to keep the employees busy through fun means and the ideas appended were superb. Employees always want a break from the regular pile of work and especially the desk work employees would like to move out and enjoy.
