Description: Data Warehousing and Data Mining techniques are becoming indispensable parts of business intelligence programs. Data mining, the extraction of hidden predictive information from large databases, is a powerful new technology with great potential to help companies focus on the most important information in their data warehouses. Data mining tools predict future trends and behaviors, allowing businesses to make proactive, knowledge-driven decisions. The automated, prospective analyses offered by data mining move beyond the analyses of past events provided by retrospective tools typical of decision support systems.
Objectives: This faculty development program is intended to provide opportunity for teachers employed in AICTE approved Institutions for teaching and upgrading their knowledge in the areas of Data mining and Data warehousing. This program will be very useful for those who are involve in teaching Data mining and Data warehousing at U.G/P.G level. This will also provide a basic platform for a faculty who is willing to carry out research in Data mining and Data warehousing. The fundamental concepts of Data mining and Data warehousing will be introduced. However, our main focus will be on Data mining and Data warehousing based on the B.E/B.Tech. (CSE & IT) and M.C.A syllabus of Anna University.
Speakers: Senior faculties of CEG, and from industries. Eligibility Faculties of IT, CSE, and MCA departments, who has some basic knowledge of data mining & database. Young faculty from colleges affiliated to Anna University, Chennai may be preferred.
Contents: Data-warehousing concepts Data Mining algorithms – practical exposure ETL Concepts Overview of how to work in Informatica & ETL Tools Applications of Data warehouse
Introduction to Data Mining concepts: Classification, Association Rule, Categorization, Prediction, Genetic algorithms and their applications in different domains. ?? Overview of working with data mining tools
Registration: Total number of participants is limited. Organizer’s decision is final in the selection of the candidates.
Registration Fee: One participant per college affiliated to Anna University, Chennai will be admitted free of cost. Based on availability, registration fee may be waived for second candidate too from same college. However additional candidate from same college may be admitted with a registration fee of Rs.500/- per candidate. Selected candidates will be intimated by e-mail. Confirmation of participation is to made by email. Under payment category, a registration fee of Rs.500/- in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favor of “H.O.D., Computer Science & Engineering”, payable at Chennai need to be sent. Registration fee under payment categories will not be refunded if the candidate fails to attend the program. No TA/DA will be paid. Accommodation may be provided at CEG hostel for outstation candidates free of cost subjected to the availability.
