Inrtoduction Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a social welfare scheme of Government of India. It was launched on 1st May 2016 from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, the government aims to provide LPG connections to below poverty line (BPL) households in the country. The scheme is aimed at replacing the conventional fossil fuel burning such as coal, kerosene, wood, uple. mostly used in the rural India. This scheme will provide 50 millions LPG connections in the name of women (Below Poverty Line) households across the country. The government has set a target of 50 millions LPG connections to be distributed by 2019.

Funding for Ujjwala Yojana A total budgetary allocation of Rs. 8000 Crores has been made for this scheme. Implementation of the scheme will be in the next 3 years. The scheme will be implemented using the money saved in LPG subsidy through the "Give-it-Up" campaign.
Financial Assistance to beneficiaries This scheme provides a financial support of Rs. 1600 for each connection to below poverty line(BPL) households. The Government will provide EMI facility (Installments) for meeting the cost of stove and refilling the gas cylinders.The scheme will be implemented and supervised by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. This Scheme would be implemented over the next three years (2016-2019).

Conclusion There are more than 240 million households in India. Out of which about 100 million households are still deprived of LPG gas connection. The Pradhan-Mantri Ujjwala-Yojana will reach to all the poor and needy families. The Mothers and The sisters will use clean fuel (LPG) in cooking their food. This will benefit in terms of health, easiness, satisfaction. This will also be helpful in curbing the fossil-fuel emissions.
