Kendriya Vidyalayas also referred to as KVs or Central Schools are managed by an autonomous body, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. These chains of schools were founded for children of Central Government employees, who moved around the country, with their parents, on transfer. Kendriya Vidyalaya No1 Jalahalli (West) is one of many such schools, in the country. This branch of KV is managed by the Air Force.

The KV at Jalahalli is built over a sprawling campus of roughly 17 acres, out of which 10 acres is dedicated for sports. The campus has a 400metres athletics track in addition to having basketball, badminton and volleyball courts and a football field and place for kho-kho and kabbadi, among other sports.

The school offers only science and commerce streams in the +2 sections. The academic performance of students in the board exam has been good consistently. The school integrates the latest technical gadgets to make learning fun and interesting for its students. As part of this initiative, the school was selected for a pilot program for INTELs TAL (Technology Aided Learning) project.
