I thank the author for writing a very useful article on the issue of joining Government Services. Needless to state that the present article would help many Government job aspirants. However, there are various types of Government jobs. It is almost impossible to cover all types of Government jobs by different recruiting agencies in a single article. However, I would like to state the following in this context:-

There are basically five types of Government jobs, Central Government jobs, State Government jobs, jobs in armed forces, jobs in banking sector and jobs in municipalities/panchayats. An aspirant must always remember that the pattern of questions is different for every examination. For example, the pattern of questions in respect of Railway jobs and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) jobs are different. Not only that, the difficulty level of question papers varies with the level of post. Similarly the pattern of questions varies between Central Government posts and State Government posts.
If a Government job aspirant wants to study systematically for Government jobs, he/she must have to shortlist the preferred area (as for example, Railway jobs, SSC jobs, UPSC jobs) and study very seriously for a period of at least six months. The pattern of question papers and key areas of stress are required to be identified (either by the aspirant himself/herself, or as per the guidance of coaching institutes), and study should be commenced accordingly. Continuous, regular, focused and systematic practice along with proper planning is the key to success in competitive examinations.

I sincerely hope that the author would write similar useful articles on specific Government recruitment (le.g., Railway, SSC, Banking sector, Armed Forces, etc.).

Even with a lot of openings and well paying jobs and all round reduction of unemployment, many job aspirants aspire for government jobs even now.
The concept is that govt jobs give job security, most of them are clear 10 to 5 jobs, which does not involve the need to sacrifice social life. Most of the jobs are file pushing type and do not involve any target or deadline. That makes the job less tense in comparison to many other commercial sector jobs.
The number of job aspirants appearing for the selection exams for govt jobs, whether in the states or central government is indicators of the mass interest in govt jobs.

For such large numbers, this article will be useful.
