Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration -- (PGDBA - DLP)

Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, one of the leading business schools of Asia, embarks on yet another remarkable venture,'Distance Learning Program'.

Duration
This is a 2 years Program offered in the distance mode. The two year program is divided into four semesters. Applicants can complete the program in a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 3 years. Applicants opting for dual specialization can get a relaxation of one year in the maximum completion time of 3 years.

The first two semesters are generic, common to all and cover general topics of management. The last two semesters contain specialization related subjects.

The student needs to completely clear at least 8 papers from the 1st year before she/he can proceed to the 2nd year. However students can complete their academic requirements at their own pace during the registration validity period.
Eligibility:
• Graduates from any recognized university.
• Diploma holders from any recognized polytechnic with 3 years of supervisory work experience post diploma.
• Final year degree student. However, their admission will be confirmed only on submission of the attested Xerox copies of their degree certificates/final year mark sheets.
Enrollment :
• There will be two batches each year.
1. One batch commencing from 1st January.(Admissions starting from November)
2. Second batch commencing from 1st July.(Admissions starting from May)
• Duly filled in application form along with the enclosures must reach the institute on or before last date of submission.
• Specialization should be selected in Application form. "Preferred center for examination / PCP centers should also be selected in the Application form itself.

Fee structure and payment schedule
Welingkar focuses on providing the highest quality education at a cost and payment mode that would be convenient for the students. Flexibility of our fee packages ensure that students from different socio-economic backgrounds get the advantages of Welingkar education.


There are 2 payment plans by which you can pay the course fees. You can choose any one of the following options:

Course fees is inclusive of midterm as well as end semester exams. However, for subjects, which are not cleared during the semester or subjects for which students do not appear for exam, wil carry additional exam fees of Rs. 400/- per subject.

If a student decides to join the Personal Contact Programs for the 1st and 2nd Semesters, he has to pay an additional amount of Rs. 3600/- at the time of admission only. (Personal Contact Programs are optional and available currently at mumbai only.) If the students decides to join Personal Contact Program at a later date, the fee is Rs. 400/- per subject.

For overseas / NRI students who will be moving abroad and wish to have their course material sent to them abroad, there is a special fee. Click here for details.
• All fees are payable either in cash (at the Welingkar counter) or by demand draft drawn in the name of "Welingkar Institute of Management" payable at Mumbai.
• Local cheques payable in mumbai are accepted.
• No outstation cheques will be accepted.
• Study materials for each semester will be sent subject to the payment of installments/fees.
Late Payment of Fees
• Rs 500/- additional for every 15 days of delay in payment of installments.
• Students who opt for dual specialization will be required to fill an additional form in the third semester along with the relevant fees.
Other Fees
• Personal Contact Program Fees --- Rs 3600/- for 12 subjects, if paid along with course fees. If PCP fees are paid later on, they are Rs. 400/- per subject. PCP's are optional but recommended.
• Re-exam fee --- Rs. 400/- per subject (Rs. 200/- for re-exam & Rs. 200/- for re-submission of assignment)
• Duplicate ID-Card --- Rs. 100/-
• Duplicate issue of study materials --- Rs.350/- per book plus Rs. 50/- as postage.
• Re-registration fees (Applicable to those students who are not able to complete the course within 3 years) : Rs. 7500/- for 1 year extension.



Admission

The Prospectus & Application form for the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration through Distance Learning Program (PGDBA-DLP) can be purchased only from the following offices:
• Mumbai : Lakhamsi Napoo Road, Near Matunga (C.R.) Rly. Station, Matunga.
• Bangalore : 11, Emen Arcade, Krishna Nagar Industrial Estate, Near Dairy Circle, Hosur Road.
Cost of Application form is Rs.500/- in person by cash or Rs. 550/- by post through demand draft.
You can register online by clicking on the Download page. Kindly take a print-out and with the below mentioned enclosures send to our address given in contact us page.

Enclosures:
• Copies of the Degree Certificate / Provisional Certificate / Final Year Mark list duly attested by a Class 1 / Gazetted Officer.
• Two copies of recent passport sized color photographs.
• In case of diploma holders, a letter from the current employer as per the proforma given in the prospectus and experience certificate from the previous employer(s) (if any), totalling a minimum of 3 years work experience need to be enclosed.
You will need to download Adobe AcrobatReader.
All fees are payable either in cash (at Welingkar Counter) or by Demand Draft drawn in the name of "Welingkar Institute of Management" payable at Mumbai. No outstation cheques will be accepted. Study material for each semester will be sent subject to the payment of installmets/fees.
Cancellation of Admission

You can cancel your admission within 60 days from the date of your registration by forwarding a written application to the institute and returning your ID card.
Refund of Fees

Rs.3500/- would be deducted and the balance course fees would be refunded to the student within a period of maximum 60 days, from the date of admission. There will be no refund of course fees after 60 days for any mode of payment (i.e. One time payment of 2 years fees or fees paid annually).
Methodology
Course Material
Welingkar will dispatch specially designed study materials to the students each semester. Each study material book contains a list of suggested readings that the students can go through to enhance their understanding of the subject.
The medium of instruction is English.
E-Learning Toolkit Support
in addition to printed study materials, students get "E-Learning Toolkit" support through website. The e-learning toolkit contains Summary, PPT as well as skill builder modules for every chapter of each subject.This facility is available free of cost to the students.The students are advised to make optimum use of the same.
Personal Contact Programmes

Welingkar will conduct Personal Contact Programmes for first and second semester students four times a year prior to the mid term as well as end semester examinations for the first year. Presently, the contact programmes are conducted at Mumbai Only. The Personal Contact Program will last for about 6 days each semester. During this period, a minimum of 7 hours per subject will be covered in a classroom environment. During PCP, entire portion is not covered, but major concepts are explained. The PCP is optional but highly recommended since they encourage peer interaction amongst the students and provide opportunity to clarify doubts related to the curriculum.
The fees for the PCP`s have to be paid at the time of admission only. (Rs. 300 per subject). In case the student desires to join later on, the late fee will be Rs. 400/- per subject.
Examinations and Evaluation Criteria
• In every Semester, there is a mid-term exam and a semester exam. All exams are application oriented and have objective type question papers to test the analytical ability of the student.
• Every subject portion is divided into two parts. Mid-term exam is based on few initial chapters and semester exam is based on the balance chapters.
• Both mid-term as well as semester exams are of 50 marks. However, mid-term assignment carries about 15-20% weightage and semester exam carries 80-85% weightage. To clear a subject, a student has to secure minimum 50% weightage marks which is a total weightage percantage of both the exams.
• Mid-term exams can be given from any place through on-line mode during specified days.students should ensure that un-interrupted power supply and continuous internet connectivity is there while giving exams. In case of failure of power/Internet connectivity rescheduling of exams can be done.however, this arrangement is provided only once for any kind of exams after DUE VERIFICATION.
• For end semester exams, students are required to appear from the testing centres selected by the institute. These centres are located in major metro cities as well as few suburbs in Mumbai. Further information about the centres can be obtained from the office of the institute. Students have to book their examination slots in advance from our website during the stipulated time period.
• During the fourth Semester, each student is required to submit a project report on any of the topics from the list given by the institute after synopsis approval. There is an oral exam along with the project before submission.
Others
• In every year, mid-term exams are conducted in April and September. End semester exams are conducted in July and December.
• Students have to clear atleast 8 papers from the first year before they can proceed to second year.
• If a subject is not cleared in a semester, student has to re-appear for both exams i.e. mid term as well as end semester exam.
• In case student has paid fees in Indian rupees and then moves aboroad during the course of the program or is an NRI but has enroled as a local student and paid fees in Indian Rupees or has to travel abroad during exam time on account of work, then the student can give the end semester exams online, subject to the following:

1)The student has to submit Xerox copy of the visa and a letter from the company (incase he/she is traveling on account of work) 2)The student has to pay an exam fee of Rs.400/-per subject and in case of re-exams, a re-exam fees of Rs.800/-per subject.

Q: What is PGDBA-DLP?
A: The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA)-Distance Learning Program (DLP) is as the name suggests a program offered through the distance mode. Distance Education refers to teaching and learning situations in which the instructor and the learner or learners are geographically separated and therefore rely on electronic devices and print materials for instructional delivery.

Q: How is it useful compared to a regular MBA?
A: The 2 Years PGDBA-DLP helps you to advance your educational and career goals without disruption to your personal and professional life. You can study at your own pace, in your own space-home or office, morning, noon or night at an affordable cost. You can also put your learning into immediate action in your work environment.

Q: When will the program begin?
A: There will be 2 batches each year. One batch will commence in January and another batch will start in July each year.

Q: Who are eligible to apply to the PGDBA-DL program?
A:
• Graduates from any recognized University.

Q: Do I get any subject waivers?
A: Yes, you can get waivers for few subjects in first year based on your qualifications. Please refer to the prospectus for further details.

Q: How can you apply for the program?
A: The prospectus and application form can be purchased from our various centers. The addresses of the centers are mentioned at the back of the prospectus. The application form and prospectus can be obtained on payment of Rs. 500/- in person by cash from the Institute or Rs. 550/- by post through Demand draft drawn in favour of "Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research" payable at Mumbai. The Application form can also be downloaded from our website:www.welingkar.org in which case Rs. 550/- has to be paid at the time of admission.

Q: What should be enclosed with the filled in application form?
A: Attested photo copies of the degree certificate/diploma/final year mark sheet. In case of diploma holders work experience certificate as per the proforma given in the application form should be enclosed. Please note that work experience certificate from current & previous employer (s) if any, totaling a minimum of 3 years work experience need to be enclosed.

Q: What will be the duration of the program?
A: The program will be of 2 years duration. You need to completely clear at least 8 papers from the 1st year before you can proceed to the 2nd year. The maximum duration for completing the program is 3 years after which the admission would lapse.

Q: What is the course structure for this program?
A: The first two semesters are generic and will be common for all specializations. In the second year, one can choose from among the nine different specialization offered viz. Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, General Management, Retail Management, International Business, E-business.

Q: How much time commitment on a daily basis would be required for an average person to complete the program in 2 years?
A: If the student is able to devote 2-3 hours per day, he should be able to complete the course in 2 years. This is however an average time and can vary depending on the student's ability and other commitments.

Q: What are the specializations available in this program?
A: The specializations offered are Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, Supply Chain Mgmt., General Management, Retail Management, International Business, E-business.

Q: Can I specialize in an additional specialization (Dual Specialization)?
A: You can choose to specialize in any additional specializations subject to the following conditions: • An additional fee of Rs. 15,000/- will be charged for the additional specialization. • Program duration will be relaxed by a further period of one year. Thus students can complete the dual specialization within 4 years.

Q: When will the course materials be sent?
A: Once the fees are paid, the course materials will be sent within a maximum period of 15 days.

Q: What happens if I lose my ID card?
A: A duplicate ID card will be issued at an additional cost.

Q: What is the evaluation criteria?
A: Final evaluation would be based on assignments and exams. Assignment would carry 15-20% weightage and exam will carry 80-85% weightage. A student has to secure a minimum 50 percent in both put together to pass.

Q: Does the program have a Personal Contact Program (PCP)?
A: Yes. The program will have Personal Contact Program which will be optional. The PCP is optional and would attract a normal fee of Rs. 500/- per subject.

Q: When are the Personal Contact Programs (PCP) held?
A: PCP's will be held four times a year in Mumbai Only. All students are encouraged to attend the same in order to have classroom interaction and gain practical knowledge.

Q: What will be the duration of the PCP?
A: The personal Contact Programs will last for about 6 days each semester. During this period, a minimum of 7 hours will be devoted to each subject.

Q: Where are the exams centers?
A: There are about 40 exam centres located in various states of India. Overseas students will be able to give online exams from their respective country.

Q: When are the exams scheduled?
A:Mid-term Exams as well as end semester exams are scheduled twice a year. Thus, a student has to apppear for exams four times in a year. The time table will be intimated to you at the appropriate time.

Q: What happens if I am not able to appear for my exams at the scheduled time Or I fail in the exam?
A: You may club your semester exams whenever the exams are scheduled. However you need to pay a re-examination fee of Rs. 400/-per subject . Please note that you have to completely clear at least 8 papers from the 1st year before you can proceed to the 2nd year.

Q: When are the fees to be paid?

Q: What is the procedure to cancel my admission?
A: You can cancel your admission within sixty days from the date of your registration by forwarding a written application to the Institute and returning your ID card.

Q: What about award of certificates/diplomas?

Q: Is the program affiliated to any University?
A: This is an Autonomous Program.

Q: Do you offer placements?
A: Since a very large number of students take up this program, as well as students base is widely spread across the country and internationally, it is not feasible for the institute to offer placements to all the students. However, Welingkar is a highly respected Institute in the Industry.
