All India Fashion Design/Technology Degree-PG entrance exam/aptitude test 2017 date has been announced. The exam will be held on 12 February 2017. Fashion Design/Technology Degree-PG courses will be held at 16 campuses in India including National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) Kannur in Kerala which is functioning under the Ministry of Textiles, India Government. The courses include B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, MFM and M.F.Tech respectively. Altogether there will be 2980 seats available for this courses. After passing those courses, one can get career in the field of Fashion Design, Technology, Management and Communication. So here comes the details like age limit, exam centers, eligibility and duration of courses, application fees and important dates of this examination.

Age limit:

In the case of bachelor programs, there is an age limit of 23 by 1 October 2016. But in the case of SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 5 years. There is no age limit for PG courses.

2017 All India Fashion Design/Technology Degree-PG courses/specializations, duration and eligibility:

  1. B.Des course duration and specialization:The duration of this course is 4 years. Here the specializations include Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Netwire Design, Leather Design and Textile Design.
    Eligibility : In order to get admission for B.Des course, you have to qualify the entrance exam. There is no mark criteria for appearing for entrance exam. The only thing is that you have to qualify plus 2/equivalent exam in any subject combination OR those who are going to appear for final year exam are also eligible to appear for this entrance exam.

  2. B.F.Tech course duration and specialization
  3. B.F.tech is a 4 year duration course with specialization in apparel production.
    Eligibility: Those who have qualified the plus 2/equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects OR those who have 3 year recognized Engineering diploma certificates OR those who have appeared for final year exams are eligible to appear for this course in entrance exam.

  4. M.Des course duration and specialization
  5. This is a 2 year course with specialization in design space.
    Eligibility: Those who have bachelors degree/diploma/B.Des(NIFT/NID) can apply for this course.

  6. MFM course duration
  7. This is a 2 year course.
    Eligibility: Those having bachelors degree/diploma/B.Des(NIFT/NID) can apply for this course.

  8. M.F.Tech course duration and eligibility :
Those having B.F.tech, BE/B.Tech can apply fro Master of Fashion technology program which have a duration of 2 years. In addition they must have good knowledge of English language and computer operation.

All India Fashion Design/Technology Degree-PG entrance exam/aptitude test 2017 details :

Candidates will be selected based on 2 tests namely CAT(Creative Eligibility Test) and GAT(General Eligibility Test). For getting admission to B.Des and M.Des courses, you have to qualify GAT exam. There won't be any negative marks in this entrance exam. There will be 120 minutes available for CAT and 180 minutes available for GAT.

  • General, OBC non creamy layer group: Rs 1500
  • SC/ST: Rs 750
