An informative article on Pramila Jayapal who is going to be the first Indo-American woman elected in the US Congress. She is from the Democratic Party. Although she was born in India, she went to the US in 1982 and is permanently settled in Seattle. I think that her most important contribution is founding of 'Hate Free Zone' after the 9/11 attack. This is an advocacy group for immigrants.
Ms Jayapal has also authored a book titled 'Pilgrimage: One Woman's Return to a Changing India'.
