NCHM-IGNOU B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration admissions through NCHM JEE-2017

National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) have issued the admissions notification for the 3-year B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration degree program for the 2017-2018 academic session.

About the course

The B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration degree program will be offered at Hotel Management institutes across India which are affiliated to NCHMCT. The full-time program is for a duration of 3 years which covers 6 semesters. The goal of the program is to enhance the knowledge, aptitude and technical skills of students planning to pursue a career in the field of hospitality.

The course curriculum includes: Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and Housekeeping. Your skills in managing various aspects will also be honed, such as fin food safety & quality, HR management, financial aspects, tourism marketing, etc.

Career opportunities on successful completion of the course exist in not just hotels, restaurants and resorts, but also in Airlines' in-flight services, on cruise ships, in the Indian Railways catering services, in the Indian Navy hospitality sector, in Hospitals, in private companies, etc. You can even start you own venture as an entrepreneur!



About NCHM JEE-2017

The 3 hour entrance test will include:
  1. Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude - 30 marks

  2. Reasoning and Logical Deduction - 30 marks

  3. General Knowledge & Current Affairs - 30 marks

  4. English Language - 60 marks

  5. Aptitude for Service Sector - 50 marks

Note: The question paper will be in both English and Hindi (except for the English Language paper).

Eligibility requirements

  1. You must be 10+2 passed or have an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board, with English as a subject in the qualifying exam.

    Other acceptable qualifying exams:
    • Intermediate or two-year pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/University.

    • General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

    • High School Certificate exam of the Cambridge University.

    • Any Public School/Board/University exam in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.

    • H.S.C. Vocational exam.

    • Senior Secondary School exam conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of 5 subjects which includes English as one of the subjects.

    Note: You can get provisional admission if you are appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination. However, you must submit the requisite proof of having passed the qualifying exam at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30th September 2017.

  2. Your age should not be more than 22 years as on 1st July 2017. This age criteria is for General category and OBC candidates. For SC and ST category candidates, it is 25 years as on 1st July 2017. For PH candidates, it is as per the category, that is General/SC/ST/OBC.

  3. You must also submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format.

Reservation of seats

  • For Scheduled Caste category: 15% in both Central and State IHMs

  • For Scheduled Tribe category: 7 1/2 % in both Central and State IHMs

  • For OBC (Central list, non-creamy layer) category: 27% in Central IHMs

  • For Differently Abled (D.A.) category: 3% across the board as per rules.

  1. Submit online application at: NCHM-JEE 2017 admission or at the NCHM official website

  2. You can also purchase the application form and information brochure from 19th December 2016 at NCHMCT office, Noida and affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management across India.

Application form fee

  1. Online application form fee:
    • For General and OBC category candidates: Rs.800/-

    • For SC, ST and PD category candidates: Rs.400/-

  2. Offline application form fee:
    • For General and OBC category candidates: Rs.900/-

    • For SC, ST and PD category candidates: Rs.450/-

  1. Online application begins: 12th December 2016

  2. Online application ends: 14th April 2017

  3. Sale of application form offline begins: 19th December 2016

  4. Sale of application form offline ends: 14th April 2017

  5. Last date of receipt of application: 14th April 2017

  6. Date of JEE-2017 written exam: 29th April 2017, 10a.m. to 1p.m.

  7. Result of JEE: Third week of May 2017

  8. Counselling: Last week of May 2017 and first week of June 2017

  9. Academic session begins: 17th July 2017
