2016 Applications invited to become Distributor for PMJAK Jan Aushadhi medicines stores


Want to become a retail distributor of generic medicines under the Govt. of India Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana? This article provides details of the December 2016 notification inviting applications from qualified persons to open a Jan Aushadhi store under PMJAK and become a distributor for generic drugs at a low cost.

Overview

The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana is a Central Government scheme of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers. It was launched to provide medicines at an affordable price for the public.

The Govt. of India has planned to open 3000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (stores) in the upcoming year. With this goal, the Bureau of Pharma PSUs of India (BPPI), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India invites applications for Distributors in different States and Union Territories of India. Applications to be a Distributor should be submitted by 12th January 2017 in the prescribed proforma.

Eligibility requirements to be a Distributor

Who can apply

  1. You can be an NGO, charitable society, institution or self-help group with at least 3 years of successful operation in welfare activities, supported by audited accounts for the last 3 years.

  2. You can be a State Government-nominated agency. The State Government should identify the appropriate operating agency & make provision for free space within hospital premises.

Qualification eligibility and what you need

  1. You must be should be an income tax assessee for last 3 years. As supporting documents, you will need to submit Copy of Income Tax Returns filed for the last 3 Years

  2. You should not have been convicted by any court of law or any statutory authorities under Drugs & Cosmetic Act related offences of Pharma Companies.

  3. Valid wholesale Drug License (20B and 21B) as per Drugs and Cosmetic Act from the requisite authority. The retail drug license should be in the name of the applicant and/or Tin No.

  4. Valid VAT Registration.

  5. You must be an authorized Distributor since at least minimum 3 years for reputed pharmaceutical companies & have been dealing with at least minimum 2 reputed Pharmaceutical companies with operations all over the country.

  6. You should have been handling an annual average sales turnover of pharmaceutical items not less than Rs. 2.5 Crores per annum for Metro cities and minimum 1 Crore per annum for other cities.

  7. You must have adequate Storage facility as per Drugs and Cosmetic Act.

  8. You must have the requisite consent for co branding with JAS by JAS printing JAS MISSION statement on the sales Invoice.

  9. You must have an efficient delivery system with 12 working hours refill capacity for local retailer.

  10. Financial capacity to run the Store supported by audited accounts for the last 3 years. The supporting documents would be bank statements for the last 3 years or a bank sanction letter for extending loan in case of individuals.
