National Law University Delhi graduate, post graduate & Ph.D. online admissions 2017-2018


Are you looking for details of law programs in a reputed university in India? This article provides complete information on NLU Delhi's law programs, for which admissions are now open through online registration. Details of the each program's curriculum, duration and number of seats have been provided, as also how to apply online for the admission to these programs.

National Law University (NLU), Delhi has issued the announcement for admissions to B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. and Ph.D. programs for the academic session 2017-2018 which will begin in August this year. Admission to all the programs at NLU Delhi will be through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) to be conducted in various cities across India on 7th May, 2017.

NLU B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program

Total number of seats: 80, out of which:
  • 70 seats are on merit, based on the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET)

  • 10 seats are for direct admission to foreign nationals on merit. Note that foreign nationals are exempt from AILET, but should have scored minimum 65% marks in the qualifying exam.

Reserved seats: 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 3% for Persons with Disabilities. There is also an additional seat for Kashmiri migrants and 2 supernumerary seats for residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Duration: 5 years

Curriculum: During the duration of 10 semesters, you will be learning aspects of family and corporate law, property, taxation and insurance laws, cyber laws, international law, which covers humanitarian rights and refugee laws, etc. Political science, Sociology and English are the general subjects included in various semesters. You will also get an insight into Court management & receive practical training. More than 70 optional seminar courses are available in the later semesters.

Eligibility requirements

  1. Age criteria: You must be below 20 years as on 1st July 2017 (22 years as in the case of SC/ST candidates).

  2. Educational qualification: You must have passed the Senior Secondary School exam of 10+2 system or equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks. If you are appearing in the 12th standard exam in March/April 2017, then also you are eligible to apply for admissions.




NLU LL.M. program

Number of seats: 35, plus 5 seats for Foreign nationals. Note that foreign nationals seeking admission for the program are exempt from AILET.

Reserved seats: 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 3% for Persons with Disabilities.

Duration: 1 year

Curriculum: You have to study 3 mandatory papers for the LL.M. program , namely, Research Methodology, Comparative Public Law and Law & Justice in a globalizing world (all Semester 1 papers). Then there are 2 Optional Papers in Semester 1 and 3 Optional Papers in Semester 2. Finally, you have to work on a Dissertation. Eligibility requirements

You should have a recognized LL.B. Degree or an equivalent Law Degree with minimum 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability). If you are appearing for your final LL.B. exam in April/May 2017, then also you are eligible to apply for the LL.M. program.

Eligibility requirements

You should have a recognized LL.M. Degree with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent qualification (50% in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability).

How to apply

You must apply online only on payment of the application fee of Rs.3,000/- (the payment is Rs.1,000/- for SC/ST/Persons with Disability), excluding service charges, along with the copy of the requisite caste/Person with Disability Certificate if applicable. Candidates who are applying as Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of the SC/ST category are exempted from paying the application fee.

  • Admit cards will be available online: from 14th April 2017

  • Date for AILET: 7th May, 2017 (3p.m. to 4.30p.m.)
