How to submit application for RTE online schools admissions Mumbai 2017-2018


Searching for the 2017 Maharashtra RTE admissions online application form? Would you like to get your child online admission to a school in Maharashtra under the RTE 25% quota? Under the Government's notification of the Right to Education (RTE) Act students from economically weaker sections can avail of admission to all all unaided non-minority schools under a 25% quota at their entry level. As per the statistical data, there are over 7,000 seats available in 334 schools. Those availing of admission under this quota will avail of free education till Class 8 in the schools & the admin. of the school gets reimbursed for the students' education by the government.

Details in this article are applicable for not just schools in Mumbai, but encompasses schools in all Districts of the State of Maharashtra.

Who can apply for schools admissions under RTE quota

Children from Disadvantaged Groups

Those who are in this group include:
  • Scheduled castes

  • Scheduled tribes

  • Those suffering from 40% or more disability

Children from Economically Weaker Sections

Those who are in this group include:
  • Vimukta Jati Nomadic Tribes (VJNT)

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)

  • Special Backward Class (SBC)

  • Those from families whose annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh

List of documents required for RTE quota admissions

The documents required for those applying from disadvantaged groups are:
  1. Birth certificate - if you do not have one, get a duplicate one right away

  2. Proof of residence: This could be any of the following:
    • UID Aadhar Card - in case you have lost it, get a duplicate one quickly

    • Passport

    • Election Photo Identity Card

    • Electricity bill

    • Telephone bill

    • Water bill

    • A house tax receipt

    • A driving license issued by the competent authority in the name of the parents/guardians.

  3. The caste certificate issued by concerned Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue) or Deputy Collector, in the name of child or parent.

  4. For disabled children (CWSN), a disability certificate issued by Civil Surgeon/Superintendent of Government notified hospitals having disability of more than 40%.

  5. Recent passport size colour photograph of the child.




The documents required for those from applying from economically weaker sections are:
  1. Birth certificate.

  2. Proof of residence (refer above for which type) which is duly attested by an official authority.

  3. Income certificate issued by the Revenue officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.

  4. Recent passport size colour photograph of the child.

How to apply

  1. Go to the Online application page[see image below]

  3. Create your application ID by clicking on the link "New Registration".

  4. Now enter your application number to get it registered on the system. The application number & password will be sent to you on your registered mobile contact number.

  5. Fill in details of the child for whom admission is being sought as well as the details of the parent(s).

  6. Locate and list the school to which you wish to get admission. Note that the schools which you select should be within 1km and up to a maximum of 3kms distance from your place of residence.

  7. Next, you have to select the required standard (Class).

  8. Important: Unlike in the previous year of the RTE admission process, you are not required to upload all the required documents (check list of documents in this article above). Instead, these have to be submitted to the school only at the time of admission. The photograph of the child should also not be uploaded.

  9. Check all the details before final submission and confirm the application made by you.

  10. Finally, take a print out of the application and take it along with the required documents to the Help Desk provided.

Final Admission process

  1. The admission is based on a lottery system for schools which have less vacancy. Those having more vacancies and fewer applications will allot the seats to all applicants. The school will give priority to children residing within the range of 1km radius from the school and then for the candidates residing within the range of 2-3kms radius from the school. The school cannot charge any fee, not for any application form nor for admissions.

  2. Those schools using the lottery system will have the lottery drawn & generated by the district administration i.e. Education officer, Primary for the district.

  3. A selection list will be published online on the existing system, this list being accessible under application login for the child's parents.

  4. Take a print out of the Admit card and approach the school, which will give admission to the child after completing any further necessary requirements.

The online admissions have been started from 10th February 2017. For Mumbai city, the online application is open till 25th February 2017 and the lottery will be conducted on 28th February 2017.
