National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test(NHTET) 2017 exam is meant for candidates who are interested to take teaching profession in the field of hospitality management / hotel management. Those who qualify this exam will get a chance to take teaching profession in any of the 58 Hotel Management Institutes and 10 Food Craft Institutes owned by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology. Here lets have a look at the details of NTET 2017 exam.

Age criteria

Candidates who are interested to apply for National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test(NHTET) 2017 exam must have the age as on 31 March 2017 as follows:
  • General category : 29 years
  • OBC category: 32 years
  • SC/ST and PD categories : 34 years

Eligibility

Candidates who have a full time Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management / Hospitality Administration after 10+2 from any recognized University with at least 60% marks and with at least 2 years industry experience after obtaining degree OR those who have a full time Master's Degree in Hotel Management /Hospitality Administration after Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management /Hospitality Administration from any recognized University with at least 60% marks either in Bachelor/Master's Degree are eligible to apply for this exam. Those who are appearing in their final semester / final year exam of Master's degree and have passed all subjects of their previous semester /year are also eligible to apply for this exam.

Application fees

The amount can be paid through a DD that is drawn in favor of NCHMCT that is payable at Delhi or Noida.
  • General/OBC categories (male candidates only): Rs 800
  • Female candidates as well as SC/ST/PD categories: Rs 400

How to apply?

  • All candidates are requested to go through the brochure and understand the requirements to fill the online application form very carefully
  • Enter the DD number in the space provided
  • A passport size photograph in the required resolution and pixel is required to upload in the application form
  • Scanned copy of one of your valid ID cards like Adhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID in the required resolution as well as pixel is required to upload in the application
  • Make sure all the information you provided is correct
  • Remember to provide a valid email ID and mobile number

Exam pattern

There will be 3 papers for the National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test(NHTET) 2017 exam. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM, paper 2 from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM and paper 3 from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM. There will be 50 questions each in paper 1 and 2 while paper 3 consists of 100 questions. Paper 1 will be intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of a candidate and will primarily be designed to test aptitude of a candidate towards teaching, reasoning ability, divergent thinking, comprehension and knowledge/general awareness. Paper 2 will be focusing on nutrition, food science, general management, hotel accounts and strategic management, human resource management, financial management, sales and marketing and economics. Paper 3 is related to topics like F & B service and management, food production, house keeping management and accommodation operation management. A candidate need to obtain a minimum marks separately in all the 3 papers and an aggregate of 3 papers as mentioned below.

    General/OBC: 45 (45%)
    PWD/SC/ST: 40(40%)
  • Paper 2(out of 100):
    General/OBC: 45 (45%)
    PWD/SC/ST: 40(40%)
  • Paper 3(out of 200):
    General/OBC: 100 (50%)
    PWD/SC/ST: 90(45%)
  • Aggregate(out of 400):
    General/OBC: 200 (50%)
    PWD/SC/ST: 180(45%)
