Refresher Course on Digital signal processor applications to modern industrial drives

June 16 – 28, 2008

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Warangal – 506 004. (A.P.)

Introduction :

This course is designed to provide an introduction to utilize the TMS320LF2407A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for the task of electromechanical motion control. DSP-based control enables a large degree of freedom in developing computationally extensive algorithms that would otherwise be very difficult or impossible to implement. Hands-on- laboratory sessions are designed to impart practical knowledge to the participants.
As a prologue, the theory of conventional Drive systems is reviewed and the state-of the-art technologies are rigorously explained with a due emphasis on the aspects of modeling and simulation.

Course contents :

Architecture of TMS 320LF2407A DSP
Programming of TMS 320LF2407A DSP
Interrupt handling and On-chip peripherals
Implementation of PWM Techniques for inverter fed AC drives
Implementation of Digital Filters
Implementation of scalar control for induction motor with TMS320LF2407A DSP and dSPACE system
Modeling of DC & AC Drives
Design of DC drive control system using symmetrical optimum technique
Multilevel Inverter topologies
PWM techniques for three-phase inverters
Open-end winding Induction Motor Drives
Permanent Magnet AC Drives
Vector control of Induction Motor Drives
Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor Drives
Simulation of scalar and vector controlled Induction Motor Drives

Last date for submission of filled in application is 06.06.2008.

Selected candidates will be informed on 09.06.2008.
