More articles: How to
At the outset, I thank the author for this extremely useful article. Every year thousands and thousands of citizens of the country make their passports. As these people are ignorant about the procedure, they may huge amount to the middlemen and touts. Even spending so much amount, they get passports with errors in name, address, etc. because the middlemen don't take adequate precaution to fill the details. These create more problem instead of solving problems. Even educated people don't like to fill their own details creating major problems for themselves. In this connection, I must mention that I regularly notice a cigarette-kiosk owner just outside an office of Ministry of Eternal Affairs (which issues passport) in Delhi earns thousands of Rupees by filing up the passport applications of applicants everyday. The applicants can come to the kiosk-owner, but don't want to enter the building beside the kiosk!
The article would be able to help common people who are planning to get their passport made. It is very comprehensive and has covered all necessary details. However, I would like to add one or two necessary details/advice:-
(a) The adress of the passport seva website is:- passportindia.gov.in. The website is user-friendly. Every applicant must explore the site in detail. It would solve almost all of their queries.
(b) The applicants must not hide/suppress any information.
(c) If the applicants pay the fees from SBI Account, they don't have to pay any additional charge.
(d) Be punctual on the day of meeting the Passport Officer. Don't the miss the date.
(e) Nowadays, passports are issued ithin 45 days of meeting the assport Officer. In case of Tatkal application, the passport is available within 3-7 days.
(e) The procedure mentioned here is for Personal passport. In case of Diplomatic passport or Official passport (generally issued to Government Officials), the procedure is more simple.
I again thank the author Mr. Kuwakhedawala, for this useful and informative article.
