2017 NEST Junior scholarship test India application for Class 9, 10, 11, 12 students


Are you looking for details of online registration for the 2017 NEST Junior scholarship test? This article provides guidance on the online and offline application process to register for the 2017 NEST Junior scholarship test. This year, students of Std.IX and X can also appear for the 2017 NEST Junior scholarship test.

The 18th Nationwide Education & Scholarship Test (N.E.S.T. – Junior) will be held on 30th July 2017. The good news is that this year it is also open to school students of Class 9 and Class 10. Hence this year there are two categories for the NEST-Junior scholarships. NEST-Junior I (for 9th and 10th Std. students) and NEST-Junior II (for 11th and 12th Std. students.)

Scholarship amount

  1. Ten scholarships of Rs. 25,000/- each to the top 10 scorers (with Rs. 40,000/- to the first rank student) in NEST-JUNIOR-I category.

  2. Ten scholarships of Rs. 30,000/- each to the top 10 scorers (with Rs. 40,000/- to the first rank student) in NEST-JUNIOR-II category.

  3. Certificates of Appreciation will be awarded to students who score aggregate of 40% and above of all the sections put together in the test.

Eligibility requirements

  1. You must be a bona fide student of any school or college of Class 9, 10, 11 and 12 only of science stream. The institute should be a Government-recognized one.

  2. Those who are appearing / appeared in 2017 exams are also eligible to apply.




Test features and format

The NEST-Junior scholarship will be awarded on merit basis, as per the scores in the online test which is in English medium. This test has Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with 1 mark for every correct answer.

Subjects for NEST-Junior I category - this is for students of Class 9 and Class 10:
  • Section I: Physics - 25 questions

  • Section II: Chemistry - 25 questions

  • Section III: Maths- 25 questions

  • Section IV: Biology - 25 questions

  • Section V: English Language - 25 questions

  • Section VI: Logic & G.K. - 25 questions

Total marks: 150

Duration: 2 hours

Subjects for NEST-Junior II category - this is for students of Class 11 and Class 12:
  • Section I: Physics and Chemistry - 50 questions

  • Section II: Maths / Biology - 50 questions

  • Section III: English Language - 50 questions

  • Section IV: Logic & G.K. - 50 questions

Total marks: 200

Duration: 2 hours

Syllabus

For the NEST-Junior I test, questions will be based on Class 8 and Class 9 NCERT books. A few questions in the test may also be based on what is taught in the lower level classes as well.

For the NEST-Junior II test, questions will primarily be based on Class 10 and Class 11 books, generally the SSC and HSC books as prescribed by the CBSE, ICSE and other State boards in India.

Fees

The participation fee is Rs. 500/-. You must add a fee of Rs. 250/- for a book of sample questions. This book is provided free of cost in the months of January and February.

After 31st March, 2017, there is a late fee of Rs. 100/- in April and May, 2017 and Rs. 200/- in June, 2017.

Then you can register for NEST-Junior either through the online mode or offline -
  1. Online mode: Apply at NEST official website and pay the fees online.

  2. Offline mode:
    • Download the NEST-Junior scholarship application form (the revised list of test centres is also provided at this page)

    • Fill up the application form and paste your photograph in the requisite space.

    • Send the completed application form either by registered post or by courier, attached with a Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of 'SEMCI INDIA' payable at Mumbai to:

      57-J, Clare Road,
      Byculla,
      Mumbai - 400 008.

    Note: Do not attach any documents with your application, other than the DD.




Important dates

  1. Last date without late fee: 31st March, 2017.

  2. Admit Cards will be sent by e-mail by: 23rd July, 2017.

  3. Date of test: 30th July, 2017 (Sunday)

  4. Date of declaration of results on the official website: 5th September, 2017 at 5p.m.
