Online application to become Govt. BEE certified Energy Manager or Auditor


Want to know how to become a BEE certified energy auditor? Looking for the information on the government recruitment entrance exam for energy auditors? This article provides information on the National Certificate Examination for Energy Managers (CEM exam) and Energy Auditors (CEA exam) conducted by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Through these exams, you can start your career as a BEE certified Energy Manager or Energy Auditor.

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has announced the schedule for the National Certificate Examination for Energy Managers (CEM exam) and Energy Auditors (CEA exam), to be conducted in September 2017. The exams will be conducted and administered by the National Productivity Council (NPC).

About the exam

Passing the National Certificate Examinations is an essential qualification for an Energy Manager to be appointed as or designated as Certified Energy Manager. For accreditation of Energy Auditors, you need to be a certified Energy Manager and have passed the exam 'Energy Performance Assessment for Equipment and Utility Systems' conducted by BEE, other than fulfilling the requisite criteria.

Exam dates: 23rd and 24th September 2017 (Saturday and Sunday)



Eligibility requirements for Certified Energy Auditors (CEA) Exam

You must be a Graduate engineer (B.E. / B.Tech.) or have an equivalent qualification. You should also have work experience of at least three years which involves the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.
OR
You must be a Post Graduate engineer (M.E. / M.Tech.) or have an equivalent qualification. You should also have work experience of two years involving the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.
OR
You must be a Graduate engineer with a Post Graduate degree in Management or equivalent with 2 years' work experience involving the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.

Eligibility requirements for Certified Energy Managers (CEM) Exam

It is the same qualification as per the eligibility criteria for Energy Auditors as mentioned above
OR
You should be a Diploma Engineer or equivalent with 6 years' of work experience involving the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.
OR
You must be a Post Graduate in Physics or Electronics or Chemistry (with Physics and Mathematics at graduation level) with 3 years' of work experience involving the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.

Important points to note:
  1. If you do not have the requisite experience, then you are not eligible to appear for the exam.

  2. The training period will not be considered as experience.

Exam format

The exam will have the following papers:
Paper 1: General aspects of Energy Management & Energy Audit for EM & EA
Paper 2: Energy Efficiency in Thermal Utilities for EM & EA
Paper 3: Energy Efficiency in Electrical Utilities for EM & EA
Paper 4: Energy Performance Assessment for Equipment & Utility Systems (open book exam) for EA

Additional Notes:
  1. For CEM exam, the candidate has to appear in Paper 1, 2 and 3.

  2. For CEA exam, the candidate has to appear in all the 4 papers.

  3. Paper 1,2 and 3 are common for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors. Those qualifying in these 3 papers will be eligible for Energy Manager Certification. For Energy Auditor Certification, the candidate has to qualify in all the 4 papers.

  4. The degree of difficulty will be higher in paper 4 than in the other papers.

  5. For up-gradation of EM certification to EA certification, you should refer to the prospectus.




How to apply

  1. The prospectus can be downloaded from the official website. Information on supply of guide books is also provided in the prospectus.

  2. Registration for the exams has to be done online at AIPNPC website

  3. Supplementary candidates of previous National Certificate Examination must also submit their online application also at www.aipnpc.org.

  4. Send a printout of the filled-in application form along with the requisite fee(for both fresh and supplementary candidates) and enclosures (for fresh candidates) to:
