Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) (MAIN & ADVANCED) for admission to NITs and IITs in India

The entrance exam that has dominated all since the past forty years and above is the Joint Entrance Exam which is being conducted by the CBSE every year. The exam has undergone various changes since 2000 by accommodating the necessities of the present generation and now it is ranked one of the toughest engineering entrance exams all over the world. The JEE main is a preliminary exam for JEE advanced which admit the students in various NITs of India. The JEE advance admits the students in various IITs in India by All India Ranking (AIR) based on the qualification of JEE main exam.

There are a total of 23 approved IITs and 31 NITs functioning all over the country. Students get admission to NITs through the JEE MAIN entrance exam which is also the qualifying exam for JEE ADVANCED. Students choose their course of interest according to their JEE ADVANCED rank. Various coaching institutes widespread across the country have been opened for vigorous training of the students. Always the IITs have been the target in colleges recruitment processes for the national & foreign recruiters for so many years.

Admission in Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore

IISc is the premier institute for research and higher education in India for so many years. The admission to this institute is done through various exams.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protosahan Yojana (KVPY) The exam is organized and funded by the IISc itself every year to attract the most interested students towards research studies in science and engineering. The students studying class XI and XII are eligible to attend the exam which is conducted every year. The exam consists of two levels, first the written exam followed by an interview with the faculties where a few students throughout the nation are shortlisted. IISc also admit its students via JEE advanced and main cut-offs.

Admissions in Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani

Birla Institute of Technology and Science was established by the Birla Group in 1964. BITS has its centres at Pilani (Rajasthan), Hyderabad, Goa and also has its campus in Dubai. The institute is ranked at a very high position due to its high standard and its facilities. The BITSAT online test is conducted every year in the month of May. The exam is conducted for a total of 450 marks which consists of 150 questions each carrying three marks and one negative mark for wrong answers. The cutoff mark ranking for computer science and ECE are very high since they are the most preferred courses.

For admission in Dubai campus to any of the first degree programmes, candidates must have passed the requisite qualifying examination, which is the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination of Ministry of Education, UAE or Senior School Certificate Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE 12th grade) New Delhi, India or its equivalent exam in any recognized National or Inter-National board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Admissions in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore

VIT has its campuses at Vellore, Chennai and Amaravathi. The private institute has its reputation for so many years not only in India but also in foreign nations. The institute is the most preferred in our country than any other by the foreign candidates. The VITEEE is held every year for the grade 12 students to find their admission. It is an online test and seats are allotted once the ranks are declared. The placements are decent enough fetching more and more companies all over the world. The NIRF has ranked VIT the No.1 Private University last year. The infrastructure is well developed and the campus itself resembles a small town with lake, gardens, residential complexes etc.

Admissions in Manipal University, Manipal

Manipal University is a private research and educational institute located in Manipal, Karnataka. Manipal University offers 218 programmes in 19 disciplines. The Entrance Exam for the Manipal University like for all other private institutions is conducted every year followed by counseling for the allotment of seats to various courses. The private institute has been the choice of many students to select their desired branch only after to the IITs and NITs. It is ranked 2nd among the private universities by NIRF.

Admissions in Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram

The IIST is a government institute was established in 2007. IIST provides financial assistance funded by the Department of Space, Government of India for the students admitted to B.Tech Programmes. The institute is located at Valiamala,
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The candidate applying for admission to this institute should have qualified in both Jee Main and Jee Advanced examinations and then the ranking is done based on JEE Main marks. ISRO directly recruits students from this institute every year and thus it is the best choice for space science study in our country.

Admissions in Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Coimbatore

The Amrita School of Engineering was establishes in the year 1994 by the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University). It is a NAAC accredited private university in India and it has been ranked as no. 1 private university in India by NIRF of MHRD, India for the year 2017. This university has three campuses at Amrithapuri (Kerala), Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) and Bangalore (Karnataka) respectively.

The admissions for all the three campuses are done by Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination (AEEE) ranking through counseling. This university offers various undergraduate (B.Tech.) and postgraduate (M.Tech,.) programmes in Engineering discipline which includes Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, Electrical and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Aeronautical engineering.

Apart from the above engineering entrance explained by author, there are many state entrance examination like UP TECH, COMED, EAMCET, .There are many other institutes like CRM University, KIITES. Geetam.
2018 onward Govt. is going to conduct one exam for whole nation. Admission into IITs, NITs, state engineering colleges and private institutes will do admission on the single merit list issued by CBSE.
