Being a professional student let me put forth my point of view. I admit that professional studies adds up our practical knowledge. But according to the current scenario, none of the colleges (whether private or government) motivate the students to get any kind of practical knowledge. There are lab and workshops in every semester but those are only from the examination point of view. If a student needs to seek practical knowledge, he or she needs to find any firm that motivates students for various internship programs. If you do so, it is really fruitful.

And let me add up, if you can relate all your theory papers to the practical side, then professional courses are the most interesting studies which builds up your career.

A good article by the author. He presented the advantages and disadvantages of academic courses and professional courses. After graduation in academic courses, they have to go for post graduation and PhD for better prospects in their career. There is one more option which looks more attractive. If somebody wants to settle well in his life with a government job, he should opt for B.Ed training course. This course is for one year. There are colleges offering this course. Once you complete the training, chances of getting a teacher post in government school is very high. Government will be recruiting teachers every year. The pay scales are very good and if you have the patience after school hours you can take tuition to students which will fetch you good income. If you are interested, while working also you can complete your PG as well as PhD which will give you an edge over others for your elevations to higher posts.
