How to submit online application for Kerala Chief Minister IT Fellowship program


Are you eager to work with the State Government of Kerala? MBA graduates seeking employment opportunities with the Govt. of Kerala can apply to be a Chief Minister Fellow-IT (CMF-IT). This article provides complete information of the work profile, eligibility requirements and the application process.

The Office of the Chief Minister, Kerala invites applications from qualified candidates to work as Fellows in the capacity of "Case Workers" who will also assist members of the High Power IT Committee (HPIC) team. The aim of the Chief Minister Fellow-IT program (CMF-IT) is to develop effective business development strategies to attract investments in the State's IT sector.

Eligibility requirements

Before applying, ensure that you fulfil the eligibility criteria in all respects, as follows –
  1. Age criteria: Maximum age should be 35 years.

  2. Educational qualification: You should be a management graduate with the requisite qualified degree. You will not be considered if you do not have an MBA or equivalent qualification from one of the top management colleges in India or abroad.

  3. Work experience: You should have a minimum of 3 years' work experience in the corporate field or in a government organization or in the NGO sector. Do not apply if you have no experience.
    Your work experience should reflect your expertise in formulating, developing and managing a project which would help boost the IT sector in the State. It would be advantageous to have sufficient experience and thorough expertise in the various aspects of business development and the concept of destination marketing.

  4. General skills:
    • You should have the ability to work on complex assignments.

    • You must have good oral and written communication skills and must have demonstrated her/ his capability to take up complex assignments in the public sector.




How candidates will be selected

Alumni of top B-schools can suggest names of candidates. Information about the program can also be conveyed online, as is being done in this article, to attract eligible candidates. About 30 will be finally selected, based on various parameters, such as their performance during academic years, project management expertise and a keen interest in working on projects launched by the State Government.

A committee of Government executives, an HPIC representation and an IIM-Kozhikode executive (Director/Dean) will select the Fellows. This committee will be headed by a Minister/ Officer nominated by the Kerala Chief Minister. From the selected candidates, about three to five will be assigned work directly with the State Government. Others will work with HPIC.

How to apply

You can submit your application in online mode only with your detailed resume at: Kerala IT website.

What your application should include:
  1. The details of your academic qualification (MBA or above).

  2. A list of the institutions where you studied

  3. Your work experience

  4. A brief write up of two projects of which you were the lead during your work experience (this would be such that it supports your eligibility to be considered for the position of a CM Fellow.) The description should mention the role you played in it, main achievements and key learnings from it.

Note: Any documents which you upload should only be in the format of doc, docx or pdf file. The maximum size permitted is 2MB.

Last date to submit online application: 25th June 2017.



Final selection process

If you are shortlisted, then you will be intimated and called for a personal presentation during the last week of June. The presentation should be of about 10 minutes duration, projecting your vision of the development of IT Industries in Kerala, what challenges you perceive and likely solutions which would surmount these challenges. Right after the presentation, there will be a short interview of about 15 minutes.
