Applications are invited for admission to various courses at the
University Departments/Centres during the academic year 2008-09
1. SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES
Department of Medical Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology, Thalassery Campus, Palayad
670 661. Ph: 0490 2346270, 2347385.
A) M.Sc Medical Biochemistry: 3 years,(6 Sem.) 15 seats.
B) M.Sc Medical Microbiology: 3 years (6 Sem.) 15 seats
Eligibility: B.Sc Degree in any of the Biological Science subjects or Chemistry securing not less
than 60% marks in aggregate excluding languages.
Selection : on the basis of merit in subjects of specialization in graduation and entrance
examination conducted by the University/Department
C) M.Sc Medical Biochemistry: 2 years (4 Sem.) 5 seats,
D) M.Sc Medical Microbiology: 2 years (4 Sem.) 5 seats.
E) M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology: 2 years (4 Sem.) 15 seats.
Eligibility: Pass in BSc. Degree (4 year course) in the Faculty of Medicine in the respective
subjects. In the absence of 4 year B.Sc. MLT degree holders candidates having 3 year B.Sc.
MLT with 10 years teaching/ laboratory experience in Govt./Quasi Govt. service can also be
considered.
Selection : on the basis of merit in B.Sc Degree.
Single application is sufficient for the above courses A to E.
2. SCHOOL OF LIFE SCIENCES
Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, Thalassery Campus, Palayad - 670 661 Ph:
0490 2346270, 2347394.
A) M.Sc Microbiology: 2 years(4 Sem.), 12+3 NRI/payment seats
B) M.Sc Biotechnology: 2 years(4 Sem.), 12+3 NRI/payment seats.
Eligibility: Bachelors Degree in any of the following subjects with not less than 50% marks in
aggregate (excluding languages) : Biochemistry/Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/Life Science/
Microbiology or any other subject with Microbiology/Biotechnology as one of the subjects of
study at Degree level.
Selection : on the basis of entrance test conducted by the Department. One application is enough
for the above two courses.
3. SCHOOL OF INFORMATION SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
a) Department of Information Science and Technology, Kannur University Campus,
Mangattuparamba - 670 567. Ph: 0497-2782351 extn. 321
A) M.Sc Computer Science: 2 years (4 Sem.), 30 seats
Eligibility : B.Sc Degree in Computer Science or B.C.A or any other B.Sc Degree with
Mathematics as one of the subjects with a minimum of 50% marks for the concerned optional
Main subject.
B) M.C.A : 3 years (6 Sem.), 25+5 NRI/payment seats.
Eligibility : Bachelors Degree in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level/Bachelors
Degree in any discipline with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects/Pass in BCA Degree
from a recognized University.
b) IT Education Centre,Dwaraka Nagar, Kasaragod: M.C.A : (on cost sharing basis) 30 seats.
c) IT Education Centre, Raz Complex, South Bazar, Kannur,
M.C.A : (on cost sharing basis) 30 seats.
d) IT Education Centre, Perole, Palathadam, Nileshwar, MCA -30 seats.
Selection : on the basis of entrance test conducted by the Department.
Only online applications will be entertained. Single application will do for both M.Sc
Computer Science and M.C.A courses.
