Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) is one of the most reputed institutes in the field of hotel management education and training. About SRIHM campus

The campus of Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management includes spacious air-conditioned classrooms with audio-visual equipment as teaching aids and kitchens equipped with the appropriate equipment as per the academic year of learning.

As a student in the first year, you will learn basic culinary skills in the training kitchen. Here you will get attuned to understanding what goes into the preparation of a meal, the basic methods of cooking and dish out food with simple recipes Indian and international cuisine. In the second year, you move on to doing bulk cooking in what is known as the Quantity Training Kitchen. You work in a team and learn to prepare a menu for large groups of people, up to about 500 a day. In the final year of study, you will move to the more advanced training kitchens specifically designed to global standards.

Other catering infrastructure includes:
  • The Garde Manger or Larder, where you learn to prepare fool like salads and cold meat in hygienic temperature controlled environment.

  • The Bakery, where you learn the fine art of making bread, cakes and biscuits.

  • The Confectionery, where you get expertise on chocolates, cake decorations and making yummy desserts.

  • The campus also includes a library, a computer lab, a dining room and an air-conditioned auditorium, this last being used to host seminars, college events, guest lectures, etc.




Courses

  1. M.Sc. (Hotel & Hospitality Administration): This is a two year full time course which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

    Eligibility requirement: You must be a graduate in hospitality studies.

  2. B.Sc. (Hospitality Studies): This is a three year full time course which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

    Eligibility requirement: 10 + 2 with minimum 45% marks

  3. B.A (Culinary Arts): This is a three year full time course which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It focuses on various aspects of kitchen management.
    Eligibility requirement: 10 + 2 with minimum 45% marks.

  4. Associate Degree in Hospitality Studies: This is a two years full time course which has been newly launched and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The course is a stepping stone the final year of B.Sc (H.S.)

    Eligibility requirement: 10 + 2

  5. Associate Degree in Culinary Arts: This is a two years full time course which has been newly launched and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The course is a stepping stone the final year of B.A. Culinary Arts.

    Eligibility requirement: 10 + 2

  6. Food Presentation & Food Media: This is a one year course which includes internship. It focuses on aspects of food vis a vis various media platforms and public relations. Thus you learn about blogging, recipe writing, editing a cookbook, marketing skills, etc.

    Eligibility requirement: Graduate

How to apply

You can download the admission form from the official website and take a print out. You can also purchase the prospectus with the admission form at the Institute.

The next steps in the application process is as follows:
  1. Fill up the form and attach the requisite documents and certificates as mentioned.

  2. Submit the form to the Institute's administration office. If you are downloading the form, then you should make the payment at the time of submission of the form at the institute and collect a copy of the prospectus.

  3. Once your application form is accepted, you will be immediately issued a photo Identity Card for the Written Entrance Test. You will also know the date and time of the test, which is an objective test with 45 questions.

  4. On the day of the written test, you will know the date and time of the Group Discussion (GD) and Interview, both these being scheduled for the same day. The GD will be for about 10 minutes on a general or current news topic, involving eight to ten candidates. For this GD, you must be present in formal attire. The interview with the Principal will follow soon thereafter, for which both parents need to be present. For the interview, too, candidates should be formally attired.

  5. A list of successful candidates will be displayed at the institute as well as on the website.

Application and Documents required

You must submit attested copies of the following documents along with your application for admission:
  1. Statement of marks of the qualifying exam.

  2. School /College Leaving Certificate (after qualifying exam).

  3. Statement of Marks of Std. X and Std XII or equivalent exam.

  4. Caste Certificate (if you belong to the Reserved Category).

  5. Requisite documents for sons and daughters of Defence Service Personnel.

Important Notes:
  • The copies of certificates which you are attaching to the application form must be attested by the Principal of a School/College/Institute or by a Gazetted Officer or by a Special Executive Magistrate.

  • The Original Certificates should be submitted at the time of scrutinizing the application prior to admission and these certificates will be retained by the college till you complete your program.
