How to apply for registration of IIMs Common Admission Test CAT-2017 for PG/Fellowship in Management

Introduction


Indian Institutes of Management conduct computer based Common Admission Test which is shortly known as CAT every year as a pre-requisite for admission to various Post Graduate Management programs or Ph.D equivalent Fellow Programs in Management known as FPM in short in its various institutes located all over the country and listed non-IIM member institutions. The CAT score is a milestone for those who want to build their career studying Management course in recognized institutes of India. Maintaining the same tradition Indian Institutes of Management has announced CAT 2017 registration, entrance exam and results dates for current year too.

Eligibility Criteria


The candidates must have the following eligibility criteria to register for Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs in the year of 2017:
  1. Candidates should be a Bachelor degree holder with minimum 50% marks for General and NVC-OBC candidates whereas 45% for SC / ST / PWD candidates from any university or institution incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 or any equivalent educational qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, GOI.
  2. Candidates who have appeared in the final year examination of Bachelor degree or equivalent examination and waiting for its results may also register for this examination.
  3. Candidates whpo have completed any professional degree such as CA / CS / ICWA with at least 50% marks for General and NVC-OBC candidates whereas 45% for SC / ST / PWD candidates.

Reservations


Out of total seats 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 5% will be reserved for the candidates belong to SC, ST, OBC and PwD categories respectively.

Admission procedure


Each IIM has its own eligibility criteria for admission where CAT score 2017 will play an important role. However, each institute may also consider previous academic results, relevant working experience etc. to shortlist the candidates.

Registration procedure for CAT-2017


Candidates have to register themselves through online portal at https://iimcat.ac.in at the scheduled time mentioned below. To know about more details of the registration process candidates should read registration guide available at the page age.

Candidates have to declare an e-mail id and a mobile number during registration process and the same needs to be maintained throughout the selection process.

Registration fee


Candidates under SC, ST and PwD categories have to pay a non-returnable amount of Rs. 900/- as registration fee whereas General and NC-OBC candidates will pay Rs. 1800/- once only for registration for C-2017 irrespective of numbers of institutes they are applying for.

Centres of CAT-2017


During the registration of online application process for CAT-2017 held by IIMs candidates have to select any four test cities out of 140 centres. Finally one out of four preferred cities will be allotted which will be mentioned in admit card. In case a candidate is not allotted any of his / her preferred cities, a nearby city will be allotted.

Important dates to remember


  • Online portal for registration for CAT-2017 will be opened on 9th August 2017.
  • Online portal for registration for CAT-2017 will remain open till 500 p.m. on 20th September 2017.
  • Admit cards may be downloaded from 18th October, 2017 to 26th November 2017.
  • Test will be held on 26th November 2017
  • Result of IIMs conducted CAT-2017 will be published in the second week of January 2018 tentatively.
