Bonsai Garden in Mysore

Mysore Bonsai Garden was built in the year 2005. Here there is a display of about 450 bonsai plants, majority of them were bought from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Mexico and Taiwan. They are of different heights and shapes. Those bonsai plants were developed using several techniques. Main attraction is the display of medicinal plants and fruit plants. Every year this garden is visited by lots of tourists from different parts of the world. Especially the number of tourists will be large during the Dasara season. The word bonsai means planted in a container. History reveals that people of China and Japan had a love for small plants and so it led to growing of large trees in small pots by controlling their growth. It takes 15-20 years for growing a bonsai plant.

The plants are well cared by a bonsai specialist from Hyderabad and the special workers from asram. The plants are of the value range Rs 1000 onward. Visitors are given the chance to walk through the side walk and enjoy the real beauty of bonsai plants.

Every year bonsai conventions are held here during December. This is a 3 day seminar where experts fromdifferent parts of the world will be conducting workshops on bonsai plants. Mysore bonsai garden is located on the premises of Ganapathi Sachidananda Ashrama,Gundurao Nagar, Chamundipuram, Mysuru, Karnataka 570025, India. From Mysore, you can travel in car via JLB road OR via NH150A. It takes only 6-8 minutes travel in car to cover that 3-4 km. From Mysore Palace, you can travel in car via NH150A and it will take only 8 minutes to cover that 3 km. If you are trying to reach the Bonsai garden from Mysore Chamundeshwsri Hill, then you can walk via Chamundi Hill steps and it takes 35 minutes to cover that 2.5 km. On the other hand, you can also travel in car via Ooty Rd from Chamundi Hill. In this case, it takes about 20 minutes to cover that 11 km.
