Gene Therapy For Parkinson's Disease
Injection of genetic information directly into the brain cells of patients (gene therapy) with neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's disease could safely alleviate symptoms of these conditions. All patients survived the surgery and had no side effects related to gene therapy.
Gene Therapy For Muscular Dystrophy Fixes Frail Muscle Cells In Animal Model, Stanford Study Finds
The researchers used gene therapy to introduce a healthy copy of the gene dystrophin into mice with a condition that mimics muscular dystrophy. The dystrophin gene is mutated and as a result produces a defective protein in the roughly 20,000 people in the United States with the most common form of the disease.
Virus-based gene therapy strategies for bone regeneration:

Gene therapy has emerged as a promising strategy for the repair and regeneration of damaged musculoskeletal tissues. Application of this paradigm to bone healing has shown enhanced efficacy in preclinical animal studies compared to conventional bone grafting approaches. This review discusses current and emerging virus-based genetic engineering strategies for the delivery of therapeutic molecules which promote skeletal regeneration. Viral gene delivery vectors are discussed in the context of bone repair in order to illustrate the challenges and applications of these methods with tissue-specific examples
Gene therapy for patients with rheumatoid arthritis:
Gene therapy seeks either to supply a missing or dysfunctional gene or to ensure continuous long-lasting production of a therapeutic protein. Rheumatoid arthritis is a candidate for gene therapy, as the mechanisms leading to joint inflammation and destruction have been partly elucidated.
