Nice timely article as many work in teams currently and so is very useful to understand the concept of teamwork. I think, it is important to be aware of teamwork so that we can work better. A team has individuals of varied skills, thrown together to complete a task much better than any one person. I feel the moment we understand this, respect each other's strengths and understand that everyone's contribution is important, then it's smooth sailing.

It is also important to know that we cannot throw a bunch of people and expect them to produce results from day one. To be good team players, they together should go through a process of interaction, settling down, gelling together and only then the team would be productive as each one becomes a good team player.

One of the other crucial points is that a good team player is one who knows to set aside his personal views and some skill and put the larger interest of the team and the work at hand. A good team player is one who shares success with all and takes his share for failures and doesn't point fingers at others.
