South Asian University Delhi recruitment of Teaching Faculty and Non-Teaching Staff

The South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi is a reputed international university which offers post graduate programs and research programs. SAU has been set up with the collaboration of eight SAARC countries. The university is inviting applications from highly qualified and experienced faculty members for teaching positions, as also for non-teaching ones.

Faculty positions & Eligibility criteria

All the below-mentioned faculty positions are open to citizens of any country. Attractive salary is offered in US Dollars which is exempt from income tax.

Assistant Professor

Subjects: Computer Science (3 vacancies), Life Sciences/Biological Sciences (1 vacancy), Sociology (1 vacancy).

Educational qualification: You should have a Ph.D. degree from a recognized University or institution along with a Master's Degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks or an equivalent grade for Science subjects. Alternatively, you should have scored a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade for Social Science and Humanities.

Experience: You should have Post-doctoral research/teaching experience of minimum two years, this not including the years to obtain your research degree. Refer to the official notification for what is acceptable for pre-Ph.D. and post-Ph.D. experience.

General: It is also desirable to have articles of high quality research in reputed journals/books.



Associate Professor

Subjects: International Relations (1 vacancy), Sociology (1 vacancy).

Educational qualification: Same as for Assistant Professor.

Experience: You should have Post-doctoral research/teaching experience of at minimum six years, this not including the years to obtain your research degree. Note that teaching experience at the undergraduate level will not be considered as relevant experience. Refer to the official notification for what is other acceptable criteria.

General: It is desirable to have articles of high quality research in reputed journals. You should ideally have some experience in guiding students for their doctoral research and a productive research group, as also a proven ability to get research funding from National / International granting agencies for laboratory based research in sciences.

Professor

Subjects: Computer Science (1 vacancy), Life Sciences / Biological Sciences (1 vacancy), International Relations (1 vacancy), Economics (1 vacancy).

Educational qualification: Same as for Assistant Professor.

Experience: Post-doctoral research and/or postgraduate teaching experience of at minimum 12 years, this not including the years to obtain your research degree. Note that teaching experience at the undergraduate level will not be considered as relevant experience. Refer to the official notification for what is other acceptable criteria.

General: Same as for Associate Professor.

Non-Teaching vacancies & Eligibility criteria

Director (Finance)

This is a fixed, eight-year contract position of Grade IA - (US$ 30,000 to US$ 45,000.)

Age criteria: 51 years is the preferred maximum age.

Educational qualification: You should have a Master's degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grades.

Experience: You should have a minimum of 15 years related professional experience, of which 8 years should be in the position of a Deputy Registrar or any equivalent post, in accounting, budgeting, or fiscal administration. This experience should be in a reputed organization, preferably a University or a large academic institution. It is also desirable to have a professional CA/CPA qualification.

Skills: You should have in-depth knowledge of the methods, plans, and practices of modern computerized accounting, budgeting and record keeping systems. Your interpersonal skills should be very strong and writing and speaking skills exceptional. It is expected that you possess strong ethical convictions and are committed to provide quality service, You should be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

Deputy Registrar

This is a fixed, five-year contract position of Grade II – (US$ 18,000 to US$ 30,000.)

Age criteria: 50 years is the preferred maximum age.

Educational qualification: You should have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades.

Experience: You should have a minimum of six years of related professional experience in University Administration in progressively responsible positions in a University. This experience should include a minimum of five years in the position of Assistant Registrar or above. The relevant experience must be in one or more of the following areas: administrative matters, procurement & distribution of materials, import procedures/stores accounting, pre-conduct and post-conduct of exams, graduation procedures, academic record keeping & the like. Refer to the official notification for further details.

Skills: You must have in-depth knowledge of admissions, transfer credit requirements, degree verification and thorough knowledge of service matters, regulations and academic standards. You should have excellent communication and writing skills and be able to take the initiative for various tasks. You should have the proficiency to manage web apps, databases and technology-based employees information systems. Refer to the official notification for a complete list of expected skills.



Assistant Registrar

This is a fixed, five-year contract position of Grade III– (US$ 14,000 to US$ 23,000.)

Age criteria: 50 years is the preferred maximum age.

Educational qualification: You should have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades.

Experience: You should have a minimum of three years of related professional experience in a University or a large academic institution in progressively responsible administrative positions in a Registrar's Office. It is desirable to have five years of experience in Administration/Accounts/Admission/Vice-Chancellor's Office in the position of a Section Officer or in an equivalent post in a Government department/university/educational or research institution. Other experience requirements are the same as for the post of Registrar.

Skills: You must have a good knowledge of computer applications and internet. Other skill requirements are the same as for the post of Registrar.

This payment can be done online at the official website with a credit or debit card or via net banking. The other option is via a bank draft for US$ 20 or INR 1300/- drawn in favour of "South Asian University", New Delhi. Note that you should write your name and the post applied for on the reverse side of the bank draft.

Applications, along with all the requisite documents, must be submitted by post.

Selection process

All applications will be screened, after which the shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. It should be noted that your profieciency in teaching and communicating with students will be a major aspect of the assessment for a faculty position. Those from other countries who cannot attend the interview will be interviewed through Video-conferencing / Skype.
