You have posted "Fascinating Arithmetic" is really fascinating.Thanks for sharing this information. I also a equation which gives the relation between study and failure.
We know ,
1.Study=Not Fail
2.Not Study=Fail
Adding equations (1) and (2) we can write,
(Study+Not Study)=(Fail+Not Fail)
Study(1+Not)=Fail(1+Not)
So Study=Fail
