The concrete rose as the timber fell.

Deforestation. A vile act of defiling and devouring the homes of peaceful wildlife. This is a poem written by me imagining the pains felt by animals. Also this poem shows how the concrete jungle expands as the actual jungle diminishes.

Concrete rose as the timber fell
Where will wild animals dwell?
They follow the timber wherever it goes
Homeless animals ended up on city roads.

Some were run down by speeding wheels
Some were stoned by the children
Some exotic ones were caged and sealed
In the name of wildlife conservation.

Will there be an uproar?
Will there be a rebellion?
Just whip them even more.
Asserting your dominion.

Elephants can give you a ride.
Bears stripped off their hide.
Apes and monkeys compelled to show circus feats
Why can't we treat them as one of us and not beasts?

Wild asses and horses are secured
To traverse the lands that we've ruled
From the depths of rainforests come
birds
that are suffering from hunger and thirst.
Turkey,Emu,Ostrich and Dodo
All of their tastes we now know

It's not just the forests
We have polluted waters
We have undertaken seas
For artificial fisheries.

It's just too reckless to wreck
Something you can't perfect
It's harmful to disturb the harmony.
We shouldn't disturb Nature's symphony.

Haven't we deciphered the Nature's message?
From these repeated calamities and plagues?
Curb your plunders
Save nature's wonders.
Return the forests and lands you've envisaged.

Thankfully Faith in humanity still remains.
There are people who would buy justice
They are called as Animal rights activists

Concrete rose as timber fell.
Forests have a sad story to tell.
