INTORDUCTION
Indian industry is going through an increasing and stiff global competition day by day. To meet this serious challenge, industry should use the latest and proven concepts to improve productivity, quality of the products and production cost. To achieve this, it is required to make systems / machineries in plants available with high reliability for production. The plant maintenance system should be well placed with minimum failures and downtime. There has been a sea change in the maintenance philosophy over the years and a lot of advances have been taken place in this subject. Therefore, it is required to use this to the industry advantage.
Tribology, the science of friction, wear and lubrication has shown its potential in plants in energy and material conservation. The experience shows that about 30% problems in plants are related to tribology only. Thus, full potential of tribological solutions is yet to be exploited.
This QIP-CEP short-term course will deal in advances in Maintenance and Tribology and it will provide a unique opportunity for participants to spend their valuable time with the experts in the area.
