Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is offering a 11 nights / 12 days tour package named the 'Trail of Ganges' starting at a price of Rs.47,200/-. The tour starts on June 19, 2018 from the various boarding points of Kochuveli, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Erode, Perambur and Vijayawada.

The tour package is specially designed for LTC (Leave Travel Concession) clients. It tour includes journey in a AC Special Tourist Train covering the important pilgrim places of Devprayag, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gaya, Kolkata and Gangasagar. Tickets can be booked online from IRCTC Tourism's official website or through IRCTC's Tourist Facilitation Center, Zonal Offices and Regional Offices.

  • Name of the package - Trail of Ganges.
  • Starting price of the package - Rs.47,200/-.
  • Tour starts from Kocuveli in AC tourist train on June 19, 2018.
  • Boarding points- Kochuveli, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Erode, Perambur and Vijayawada.
  • The package includes:
    • Train journey in 1st AC (Deluxe category), 2nd AC (Comfort category) or 3rd AC (Standard category).
    • On board South Indian Vegetarian food that include breakfast, lunch, evening tea with snacks and dinner.
    • Standard AC Rooms at Haridwar, Varanasi, Gaya and Kolkata. Check-in and check-out are as per the hotel timings.
    • Off-board South Indian Vegetarian food that include breakfast, lunch and dinner while at hotel. Packed breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on fixed menu during sightseeing.
    • Two 1 litre mineral water bottles per day.
    • AC bus for transfers and sightseeing. Autos will be arranged in places where buses cannot ply as per traffic police control.
    • Entry tickets for monuments as per tour itinerary.
    • There will be a tour escort and security on board.

  • The package does not include Ganga Sagar Launch Service and Island Taxi Service, Holy Dip at Triveni Sangam (no room arrangement), special darshan charges, items of personal nature / personal expenses such as laundry, medicines etc, porterage, service of tour guide at sight seeing places and all others that are not mentioned in the package inclusions.

  3. Standard class (3rd AC) tariffs:
    • Single occupancy - Rs.57,100/-
    • Double occupancy - Rs.48,850/-
    • Triple occupancy - Rs.47,200/-
    • Child between 5 to 11 years with bed - Rs.37,800/- and without bed Rs.32,850/-
    • Child between 2 to 5 years - Rs.4,800/-.

  1. June 19th, 2018:
    • AC Special Tourist Train departs early morning from Kochuveli - the 1st boarding point.
    • Arrival and departure in the morning at/from Ernakulam towin - the 2nd boarding point.
    • Arrival and departure in the morning at/from Palakkad - the 3rd boarding point.
    • Arrival / departure in the morning at/from Erode - the 4th boarding point.
    • Arrival / departure at night at/from Perumbur - the 5th boarding point.

  2. June 20th, 2018: Arrival / departure in the morning at/from Vijayawada - the last boarding point.

  3. June 21st, 2018: Arrival at Haridwar at night and night stay at Haridwar.

  4. June 22nd, 2018:
    • Proceed to Devaprayag at 7 a.m by road Devaprayag is a holy place for Hindus. The two heavenly rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi merge at this place to form the holy River Ganga.
    • Arrival at Devaprayag by 10 a.m.
    • Holy dip / bathe in the sacred river and darshan of Sri Neelamegha Perumal.
    • Departure from Devaprayag at 1.00 p.m.
    • Arrival at Rishikesh by 3.00 p.m.
    • Departure from Rishikesh by 7.00 p.m.
    • Back to Haridwar by road and night stay at Haridwar.

  5. June 23, 2018: Holy dip / bathe in the sacred river Ganga and visit Manasa Devi Mandir by foot or by cable car. Haridwar is the holy place where the sacred river Ganges touches Earth. Board train at Haridwar in the afternoon

  6. June 24, 2018:
    • Arrive Allahabad in the morning.
    • Holy dip / bathe in Triveni Sangam - the place where the holy rivers of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati meet to for Prayag.
    • Proceed to Varanasi by bus at 3.00 p.m and arrive Varanasi by 8 p.m.
    • Night stay at Varanasi

  7. June 25, 2018:
    • Holy dip in River Ganga and perform rituals. Varanasi is a sacred Hindu pilgrim centre where it is believed that Holy River Ganga purifies the human body on having a dip.

    • Arrive at Gaya by 9.00 p.m and night stay at Gaya.

  8. June 26, 2018: Pinda pradanam at Gaya and board train in the evening.

  9. June 27, 2018: Arrive Kolkata in the morning. Visit to Dakshineshwar, Kalighat and Belur Math and night stay at Kolkata.

  10. June 28, 2018:
    • Departure from Kolkata by road at early hours 4.00 a.m.
    • Arrive Ganga Sagar at 8.00 a.m. At this place Holy River Ganga flows into the sea.
    • Proceed to Kakdwip Island by Govt authorized ferry / launch subject to tide and safety. (payment by guest).
    • From Kakdwip Island proceed to Ganga Sagar by share taxi / vehicle (payment by guest), perform rituals and pooja.

    • Return to Kolkata by launch and road.

  11. June 29, 2018: Board train at Kolkata at 1.00 a.m (early hours) and arrive Khurda Road in the afternoon.

  12. June 30, 2018:
    • Arrive at Vijawada in the morning - 1st deboarding point.
    • Arrive at Perambur in the noon / afternoon - the 2nd deboarding point.
    • Arrive at Erode in the evening - the 3rd deboarding point.
    • Arrive at Palakkad in the night - the 4th deboarding point.

  13. July 1st, 2018: Arrive at Ernakulam at early morning - the 5th deboarding point and the tour ends on arrival at Kochuveli in the morning.
