University of Delhi Faculty of Law

Introduction - The Faculty of Law, Delhi University (DU) offers a three-year LL.B. course and a two-year LL.M. course. Students applying for admission should have graduated with at least 50% marks. The course begins in August and admission procedures begin in July. Notification for admission is expected by the end of April. 15 % of the seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates. 5% seats are reserved for children/widows/wives of the officers and men of the armed forces including Para-military personnel killed/disabled in action or those who died/were disabled in action or those who died/were disabled on duty. 3% sets are reserved for physically handicapped candidates. Admissions are based on entrance tests.

Eligibility -

Graduate/ PG degree with 50 per cent marks for general candidates. SC/ST candidates need to have a graduate/ PG degree with pass marks while CW/PH candidates need to possess a graduate/PG degree with 45 per cent marks.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying degree examination or awaiting results of any such examination are also eligible to appear in LL.B. /LL.M. Entrance Test but no candidate shall be considered for admission unless he/she has secured the minimum marks prescribed as above at the time of admission.

Admission -

All admissions to the course are made on the basis of merit in the entrance test cum preference of the law centres.

L.L.B (3-year full time programme): The admission is on the basis of an entrance test based on legal aptitude and general knowledge.

L.L.M (2-year full time programme and if on part time basis the duration is 3 years): The eligibility for admission is that the candidate must have 3-year/5 year L.L.B degree from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50% (5% relaxation in marks for SC/ST candidates). The admission is based on an entrance test containing objective type questions with multiple-choice answers in 7 different fields of law. The intake of students for full time programme is 30 students every year and that for 3-year part time programme is 35 students.

The Faculty does not have LL.B. Five Year Degree Course after 10 +2.

The reservation of seats in the admission will be allowed as per the University rules.
