Introduction -
The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU) conducts entrance examination for selection of candidates for admission to Bachelor of Laws - B.L. 3 year / 5 year Degree Courses. On the basis of marks secured by a candidate in entrance examination the TNDALU offers admission in the following five Government Law Colleges, University Law College at Chengalpattu and one private Law College at Salem.
Government Law Colleges -
• Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai – 600 104
• Government Law College Madurai – 625 020
• Government Law College Tiruchirapalli – 620 023
• Government Law College Coimbatore – 641 046
• Government Law College Tirunelveli – 627 011
University Law College
• The Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University Law College
Chengalpattu – 603 001
Private Law College
• Central Law College (Private)
Salem – 636 008 (50% Seats to be filled under Government Quota subject to the result of Writ Petition No.8667/2004, pending before the High Court of Judicature at Madras.
Eligibility -
For 3 year B.L. Degree Course
• A pass in the Bachelor’s Degree Course with minimum 40% of marks in aggregate.
• Candidates who have passed the Post-Graduate Degree under Open University system without undergoing the Bachelor’s Degree Course may also apply.
• Those who have appeared for the final year examination of the above mentioned Degree Courses in the year of TNDALU entrance examination and awaiting results may also apply.
• There is No age limit for admission into this course.
• Employed candidates are not eligible to apply.
• Candidates who have not passed qualifying examination and not received the Degree/Provisional certificate on the date of counselling are not eligible for admission to 3 year degree course.
For 3 year B.L. Degree Course
• A pass in the Higher Secondary (+2) or Equivalent Examination with minimum 45% of marks in aggregate. In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, 40% of marks in aggregate.
• Those who have appeared for the HSC or equivalent examination in the year of TNDALU entrance examination and awaiting results may also apply.
• Employed candidates are not eligible to apply.
• Age limit for admission: A candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st June of the year of TNDALU entrance examination. There is no age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST communities.
• Candidates who have not passed qualifying examination and not received the Mark statement on the date of counseling are not eligible for admission to 5 year degree course.
Selection -
Selection is on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the Entrance Examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai and communal reservation and special reservations prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Test Pattern -
• Candidates will be examined in:
1. General Knowledge, and
2. Aptitude for Legal Studies
• Question papers will be set both in English and Tamil language.
• The question paper will consist of 100 objective type questions for a maximum of 100 marks.
• The duration of TNDALU examination will be 2 hours.
• There is negative marking of 0.125 marks for each wrong answer.

The university issues notification for the conduct of entrance examination and admission schedule etc,. every year during the month of May / June every year. For latest TNDALU notification
