ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
From its inception in 1967 at Jadavpur University, All India Manufacturing Technology, Design and Research Conference is well known in professional circles as AIMTDR Conference and has been accepted as a unique forum for presentation and discussion of original research and development work in the broad area of Manufacturing. The AIMTDR Conference, held once in two years, has always reflected the changing scenario in manufacturing and has provided the much needed focus for future growth. In view of its global acceptance as a reputed conference, it has been declared as International Conference from 2006.
Indian Institute of Technology Madras had the proud privilege of organizing this prestigious conference in the years 1970, 1984 and 2000. The 2nd International and 23rd AIMTDR Conference is being organized as a part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of IIT Madras during December 15-17, 2008.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
1. Material Processing: Casting, Forming, Joining, Machining, Abrasive processes, Nontraditional machining, Processing of non-metals, Composites and advanced materials, Surface engineering, Meso, Micro and Nano methods, Process modeling.
2. Rapid Response Manufacturing: Rapid prototyping and tooling, Reverse engineering, High speed machining, Reconfigurable, green and sustainable manufacturing, MEMS and NEMS.
3. Machine Tools: Structures, Kinematics, Drives and controls, Design and development of conventional and unconventional machine tools - Precision and high speed machine tools.
4. Tools and Tooling: Cutting tools, Tooling for production, assembly and disassembly.
5. Manufacturing Automation: CAD/CAM, CAE, CAPP, CNC, FMC, FMS, CIM, RMS, Robotics, AGVs, AS/RS, Mechatronics and low cost automation.
6. Quality Engineering: Metrology, Ultra precision measurements, Machine vision, Condition monitoring and sensors for intelligent manufacturing.
7. Information Technology in Manufacturing: Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems, Concurrent engineering, Virtual prototyping in design and manufacturing, Virtual reality, Networked and internet based manufacturing,
e-Manufacturing.
8. Manufacturing Systems: Manufacturing planning, scheduling and control, System modeling and simulation, Rapid response manufacturing, JIT, Lean and Agile manufacturing, Ergonomics, Logistics and supply chain management, Reliability engineering.

PARTICIPATION
The aim of this conference is to provide an interdisciplinary platform for managers, engineers, researchers and students to discuss and promote early dissemination of research results and technology transfer in all areas of manufacturing technology, product design and automation. Industries, R & D establishments, academic institutions are invited to participate in the conference by presenting papers and sending delegates.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Official language of the conference is English. Original and unpublished papers covering research and development work are invited in the areas as indicated in the conference topics.
Prospective authors are required to submit their research work in the form of an extended abstract. It should be written in English in MS Word or PDF format with 12 font size in Times New Roman and single line spacing (1 inch margin on all sides of the page) and should not exceed two A4 size pages including text, figures, tables and references. Extended abstracts on the related conference topics should be uploaded only through the online abtract submission facility. On acceptance of the abstract, the full paper has to be uploaded by the authors and the same will be peer reviewed. The full papers accepted for presentation & publication, and the abstract of the full papers accepted only for oral/ poster presentation will be included in the proceedings, subject to the condition that at least one of the authors register for the conference. Few selected papers will be considered for publication in Journals of International repute.

AWARDS
Best paper awards will be given in three categories namely (i) participants from academic institutions, students and research scholars (ii) participants from research organizations and (iii) participants from industries.
REGISTRATION
All participants, including authors, are required to register as delegates to the conference. For registration, the enclosed registration duly filled up along with the delegate fee must be sent to the Organising Secretary of the Conference on or before 15th November, 2008.
