Introduction - Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) is undoubtedly one of the premiere Institutes in India. MICA is an academic institution that has been set up to develop professional communication skills in India. The institute primarily aims at imparting relevant education to young men and women with a view to provide them with the expertise to become effective communications professionals.

The institute primarily aims at imparting relevant education to young men and women with a view to provide them with the expertise to become effective communications professionals. The institute also aims to conduct research in communication as applied to the needs of the communications industry. Through such research, the intent is to create and share new knowledge in this fast growing and increasingly important field.
As part of its agenda, MICA also means to collaborate with other institutions, both Indian and foreign, to jointly work on expansion of the knowledge base in the field of communication and its related areas.
Programs -
Broadly, there are two types of programmes that MICA offers:
* Post-Graduate Programmes. * Professional Development Programmes.
Professional Development Programmes (PDPs) are short duration programmes for working professionals from industry. The duration of these programmes generally varies between two and seven days, and seminars and workshops between one to three days.
The Post-Graduate Programme in Communications Management (PGPCM) is the most prestigious programme of MICA. This is a two-year residential programme
Eligibility -
To pursue PGPCM programme in MICA, one has to fulfil the following eligibility conditions:
A three-year Bachelor’s degree (as in the 10 + 2 + 3 system) or an equivalent qualification in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates appearing for the final examination of Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) can also apply.
Students with demonstrable aptitude for conceiving, expressing or assessing ideas that move people to action and achieve business results, will stand better chances of being selected.
Admission
The admission process for the PGPCM involves three steps:
All candidates seeking admission to the PGPCM are required to take CAT/ XAT/ GMAT as the first step.
NRIs and Foreign Nationals are eligible to sit for the MICA Test (MICAT) without taking CAT/ XAT with a minimum GMAT score of 600.
CAT/ XAT/ GMAT scores from up to two years prior to the current year will also be accepted.

For CAT Applicants * If the candidate is applying on the basis of old score, she/he must enclose a photocopy of scorecard.
* If a candidate is applying on the basis of current year CAT score, she/he must enclose a photocopy of the score card.
For XAT/GMAT Applicants
* If a candidate is applying on the basis of old score, she/he must enclose a photocopy of the score card.
* If a candidate is applying on the basis of current year score, she/he must enclose photocopy of admit card.
* Separate applications are required for CAT, XAT or GMAT entrants. However, same application can be used for using scores of last two years along with that of current year. MICA short lists candidates for MICAT on overall performance in CAT and / or XAT and do not look at sectional weightages.
MICA Test (MICAT) The candidates who are short-listed from the CAT/ XAT/ GMAT are subsequently required to appear for the MICAT, which is conducted usually in February of each year. The MICAT is designed to assess the candidates' skills in analytical and divergent thinking, written communication and familiarity with the Indian ethos. The MICAT centres are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
Group Exercise and Interview All candidates invited for the MICAT are required to participate in Group Exercise (GE), and to go through Personal Interview (PI) which happens on the same day as MICAT.

Application -
Applications are available in the select branches of HDFC, IMS, SBI, Career Launcher, Career Forum & Professional Tutorials. The duly filled in application form with a draft of the specified amount should be sent to “Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad” payable at Ahmedabad, to the Admission Office, MICA.
