Scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship for Students Belonging to the Minority Communities.

Applications are invited from the students belonging to the minority communities notified by the Central Government, pursuing education, from class I upto class X, in Government school/institute or private school/institute recognized by appropriate authority for pre-matric scholarship to be awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.

Application in the prescribed format along with requisite documents should be submitted to the Dy. Director-ll, Department for the welfare of SC/ST/ OBC/ Minority, llnd floor, B-Block, Vikas Bhawan, I.P. Estate, New Delhi-110002. through the Head of the school/institute being attended or last attended by the student.

The last date for receipt of application is 31st July, 2008.

It is clarified that the scheme is meant for Minority categories of Delhi only i.e. students belonging to Muslims, Sikhs, Christian and Buddihists community (domicile of Delhi).

OBJECT:

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarship to the meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority communities to enable them to pursue education from class I to X.

SCOPE:

The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India only.

CONDITIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP:

(a) Scholarship will be given to the students, pursuing studies from class I to X from Government/recognized private school/institute.
(b) Maintenance allowance will be credited to the student`s personal bank account.
(c) To be eligible, students should have not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination. In the case of students of Class I, the income criteria only would be applicable.

(d) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail of any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the same course from
any other agencies.

(e) The annual income, from all sources, of the student`s parents or guardian should not exceed Rs.1 lakh. Inter-se. Selection weightage is to be given to poverty rather than marks.

(f) 30% of scholarships will be earmarked for girl students. In case girl students are not available then the scholarships earmarked for them will be awarded to eligible boy students.

(g) Scholarships will not be given to more than two students in a family.

RATE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Actual financial assistance will be provided for admission/tuition fee and maintenance allowance as given below subject to a maximum ceiling indicated against item concerned:

Admission fee from Class VI and X.

Hosteller: Rs.500/- P.a. subject to actuals
Day Scholar: Rs.500/- p.a. subject to actuals

Tuition fee from class VI to X

Hosteller: Rs.350/- P.a. subject to actuals
Day Scholar: Rs.350/- p.a. subject to actuals

Maintenance allowance will be payable for a period not exceeding 10 months in an academic year.

i) Class I to V

Hosteller: NIL
Day Scholar: 100/- p.m.

ii) Class VI to X

Hosteller: Rs.600/- p.m. subject to actuals
Day Scholar: 100/- p.m.
