B. Tech. Programme in Aeronautical Engineering

In a step towards addressing the growing needs of aviation sector, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today collaborated with Aeronautical Engineering and Research Organisation (AERO), Pune based under P. S. D. Shastri Education Trust engaged in Aviation Education and Training, announced Prof. Omprakash Misha, Pro Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU.
To this effect an MoU was signed between IGNOU and AERO at New Delhi for jointly developing a B. Tech Programme in Aeronautical Engineering in the first instance.
The MoU was signed by Mr. K. Laxman, Registrar IGNOU and Mr. Anshul Sharma, Chairman, AERO, Pune.
The 4 years B. Tech. programme is a unique programme to develop knowledge, awareness and professional skills in the Aeronautical Engineering discipline. The delivery of the programme will be through face mode coupled with Open Distance Learning (ODL) component. This programme will commence in July 2009. Initially 4 centres will be activated in North, South, East and West of India. Course material will be developed in collaboration with the experts engaged in Aviation sector.
The objectives of this MoU, are to contribute to the development of technical professionals in the area of Aeronautical Engineering through joint design and implementation of B. Tech. programme by IGNOU and AERO, to form a joint core group to oversee the planning and development of the programme and also to undertake and execute all such activities required for the fulfillment of the objectives described above.
AERO will provide office infrastructure for the project in IGNOU campus. The space will be provided by IGNOU while the office equipments shall be provided by AERO by initial setup.
