INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE TOOLS Classification of machining processes - Kinematic arrangement of different types of machine tools - Work holding and Tool holding devices of different types of machine tools. 2. MACHINE TOOL COMPONENTS AND DESIGN Bed and Column – types-materials –design principles - Slide ways - types - materials –design principles - Antifriction ways – design calculations - Machine tool structures - design fundamentals-function and requirement of machine tool structure – various profiles of machine tool structure-static and dynamic stiffness- basic design procedure-materials for machine tool structures - Drive system - various types - Advantages and Disadvantages.
3. CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES OF CNC MACHINES Different types of CNC machines - Constructional features: spindle and axes feed drives – slide ways – linear motion guide ways –ball screw – accessories.
