Department of Biotechnology has launched a nationwide programme online to engage young bright students

The Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology has launched a nationwide programme online to engage young bright students, with issues and concerns associated with management of bio-resources in order to enhance their sustainability and potential to contribute to human welfare For this purpose, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), New Delhi, selected as the Regional Resource Agency (RRA) is coordinating the implementation of the program (fully supported by DBT), in states of Delhi and Haryana. In the present Vacation Program on Bio-resources (VPBR) of 4 week duration, scheduled to be conducted from May 15-June 12, 2008 at different Institutes, two groups of +1 class students (each group comprising 30 participants from 10 identified partner schools, spread across each of the above two states) are participating.

As a part of the above programme, the participants of two groups (30 in each group) of Vacation Program on Bio-resources will attend a 4 day training
module (!vIay 26-29, 2008) at Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh. For this purpose, apart from arranging Lectures for four days
programme, arrangement for the stay and refreshment of the 30 participants (both boys and girls) has to be made in different hostels from May 25-27, 2008, and for the other group of 30 participants from May 27-29, 2008.
