Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are statutory rights that allow the owner or creator/inventor of a product or work to prevent others from commercial exploitation for a specific duration.
Courses and scope
The courses in IPRs are mainly geared towards the latest technology trends, strategies in intellectual property laws etc. IPRs have assumed increasing importance in every facet of life as a result of new developments in modern science and technology as well as challenges arising from competitive nature of international trade. Intellectual assets such as patents and trademarks play increasing a pivotal role in fostering innovation and economic growth in a knowledge based economy. With the application of IPRs in new technologies such as biotechnology, effective management and exploitation of intellectual assets are essential to business performance and competitiveness.
