DNB Exam for dental specialties

The National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, will conduct the DNB Final Examinations in various dental specialties such as orthodontics, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, conservative dentistry, periodontics, oral medicine and radiology, oral pathology, community dentistry, pedodontics and preventive dentistry . Those who have passed MDS degree in any speciality are eligible to appear in the DNB final examination of the same speciality. Those who have cleared their DNB theory examinations and wish to apply for their second or third practical attempt can also apply.

Application forms and information bulletin can be downloaded from the website www.natboard.nic.in. Completed applications along with a fee of Rs.500 in the form of a DD drawn in favour of National Board of Examination, payable at New Delhi, should be sent to the Executive Director, National Board of Examinations, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi - 110 029 (Ph: 011 - 26589517).

DNB final (Dental) is a two-stage examination comprising the theory and practical parts.

An eligible candidate who has qualified the theory examination is permitted to appear in the practical examination.

The theory examination comprises four papers, maximum marks 100 each. There are 10 short notes of 10 marks each in each of the three papers. Maximum time permitted is three hours. One should score at least 50 per cent in the aggregate of four papers to qualify the theory exam.

Those who have qualified the theory examination are permitted to take up the practical examination of 300 marks. It comprises clinical examination and viva. One should obtain a minimum of 50 per cent mark each in clinical examination and viva to qualify the practical examination. A maximum of three attempts can be made in the practical examination. Date, time and venues of the examination are also furnished on the website www.natboard.nic.in. In Kerala Trivandrum will be the only test centre.
