Pakistani player Mohammed Asif has been held in dubai for carrying drugs. The player was returning to pakistan from mumbai through dubai.The airport officials retained him as they found drugs with him.The maximum punishment for this offence is 4 years.The pakistani government stepped in to take him on bail promising he would appear for hearing .The player who represented Delhi Daredevils was returning to pakistan after participating in the DLP IPL semi- finals held in mumbai.The player has been banned from matches few times earlier for testing positive to the dope test .The player is being held since monday.

The player however claims that it was only an ayurvedic medicine to boost his strength .Chemical analysis have confirmed it as an opium.

Urine test conduted gave negative test implying that he had not consumed it.Asif was arrested for carrying opium of 24 grams in the dubai airport.His coach wants him to be in the squad against the bangladesh matches.
