Consumer's Guide To Avoid Getting Unwanted Commercial Calls/SMSs

Register Your Number

Step1: Call '1909' or send SMS by typing "START DND" to '1909'. Calls/SMSs to number '1909' are FREE. New subscribers can also Register in NDNC by exercising the option in the application from for new connection.

Step2: Note the reference number given by the service provider for future reference. your request will became operational within 45 days from the date of registeration.

Note: You can also cancel your registration either by calling '1909' OR by sending by typing 'STOP DND' to '1909'.

When And How To Complain ?

(1) In case you receive commercial calls or SMSs even after 45 days of registration.

(2) Lodge your complaint on the call centre number of your telecom service provider. The complaint can be made only within 15 days from the receipt of such commercial calls/SMS.

(3) In case you don not have call centre number please visit the website of your telecom service provider.

(4) While making complaint, mention your telephone number, telemarketer telephone number, date/time of the call and type of commercial call/SMS.

(5) Obtain the complaint number for future reference.

(6) Your telecom service provider has to take action as per TRAI Regulation against defaulter telemarketer on receipt of complaint.

Even after 30 days of complaining, If you get repeated calls from the same telemarketer, you may mail your complaint to TRAI at ucccomplaints@ndncregistry.gov.in
