Open directory project is the biggest project on net for search engines. All the major search engines use the data base from this project.
ODP is basically a directory organized by human editors for any search engine it is also known by dmoz and it has more than 80500+ editors for the project which work for the project and for a greater social cause. The search engines like google,aol and yahoo use this database.
