Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) shall jointly organize “2007 Education Summit” on “Marketing of India’s Higher Education : worldwide” during 12th – 14th November 2007.
The objective of the proposed summit is to take stock of the level of technology/upgradation in selected fields and measures which need to be undertaken to transform India into a world class destination for higher education with global quality, but at a much lower cost compared to developed developed countries. The strategy should be of selectivity, identify or select fields in which India is emerging as very strong and also countries for which India should be a natural destination.
Demand for Higher Education is on the increase all over the world. So far, the student flows have been mostly one way : from developing countries like India to developed countries like US and some European desinations. But, time is now approaching for a reverse flow.
During the last five years, India has made remarkable progress as a centre/ destination for higher education particularly in the fields of engineering and technology, IT & ITES, management, medical/healthcare and distance ducation. India has over 250 Universities and more than 18,000 colleges in the country, in addition to Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU), IITs, IIM, RECs, and Management Schools.
