The University carries out various educational research and teaching activities through its departments, schools of excellence, centers and affiliated colleges. Tiruchirappalli is located on the banks of the river Cauvery. Rock Fort, Srirangam, Thiruvanaikovil and Grand Anicut are some of the historical features of the city. Department of Commerce The Department of Commerce was created in Bharathidasan University in the year 1998 with the objective of promoting research, teaching and training in the frontier fields of Commerce. The field of finance is one area of Commerce where lots of developments have taken place. Our Department has become a pioneer in the area of finance. It offers M.F.M. (Master of Financial Management), M.B.A (Financial Management) and Ph.D in commerce as well as management under full time as well as part-time programme. The area of research in the department includes corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, investment management, capital markets, credit management, risk management and so on. Our vision is to make the department an advanced center for financial studies of international repute. In its pursuit of excellence, the department has plans to organize seminars, conferences and workshops regularly. RET CAM FIN 2009 is the fourth international seminar being organized by the department, which has already organized four national seminars, one national workshop and three International Seminars.
The Department of Commerce and Financial Studies, Bharathidasan University, launches one more seminar in the series of seminars on Recent Trends in Capital Markets and Financial Innovations (RET CAM FIN 2009). This Seminar will be held every year and become an important event in the domain of capital market research. A large number of authors from academia and industry, both from India and abroad, will present their papers in the Seminar. Many researchers, students, and industry professionals would participate in the Seminar and contribute to the development of knowledge. Seminar Theme This year?s seminar endeavours to examine the different dimensions of the financial sector. Among the intermediaries, mutual funds show signs of considerable change. Security markets regulation, its evolution and the challenges faced by it have become an important matter of interest and debate. Further, issues pertaining to the debt market and derivatives market continue to nag the Indian financial markets. The Conference encourages policy research. The Seminar on ?Recent Trends in Capital Markets and Financial Innovations (RET CAM FIN 2009)?, therefore, proposes to invite research papers in the above said Seminar tracks Research Paper and Participation as Delegate are invited from v Educational institutions and Universities ? teachers, research scholars and students (India and abroad)
v Finance sector professionals from financial institutions, equity research firms, investment banks, mutual funds, credit rating agencies, security law firms, firms in audit, taxation and financial advice domains, regulatory agencies and stock exchanges.
v Registration form is to be duly filled in by the delegates and sent along with Seminar registration fees.
Important Guidelines for Submission of Research Papers ?/span> Abstracts, not exceeding 100 words, should reach us on or before the deadline. Authors must clearly indicate the broad area (Track) mentioned above in which their papers could be considered.
?/span> The registration could be made if you provide the name of the author and co-author if any, corresponding address, e-mail ID, fax, telephone number, title of the paper, DD particulars, etc in writing.
?/span> The length of the manuscript should not exceed 10-12 pages, inclusive of table, figures, illustrations and references.
?/span> The manuscripts will be subjected to blind review process. The decision of the reviewers would be final and binding.
?/font> The participants may send a hardcopy of the manuscript, together with the Floppy or CD (electronic version must be in MS Word). However, the participants may also submit their paper as an e-mail attachment using MS Word to drmselvam@yahoo.co.in.
Correspondence, Review, and Acceptance ?/span> The use of e-mail is encouraged for all further correspondence including acceptance of letter, invitation etc. The use of letter correspondence may be avoided.
?/span> Paper submitted to the Seminar will be reviewed through an anonymous multi-level review process.
?/span> All registered participants/ paper presenters will be issued a Certificate of Participation/ presentation only after presentation of paper.
?/span> Acceptance letter will be sent to the delegates only through e-mail. Publication of Accepted Paper v A souvenir or CD consisting of the abstracts of all accepted papers will be released at the Seminar. The paper received on or before the stipulated date may find a place in the Souvenir.
v If the papers are considered to be of academic value by the panel of reviewers, with potential for practical applications, they will be published in the SMART Journal of Business Management Studies. Registration The registration fee covers lunch, tea and seminar kit. The fee should be paid in the form of cash/ crossed DD drawn in favour of Dr. M.Selvam, Seminar Director, Bharathidasan University, payable at Tiruchirappalli. THE AUTHOR AND CO-AUTHOR SHOULD REGISTER SEPARATELY. The fee for the accompanying person is the same as that of delegates of the respective category. The seminar kits will not be arranged for those who register after last date Travel and Accommodation The participants are requested to make their own travel arrangements. Tiruchirappalli has a wide choice of good hotels with room tariff ranging from Rs.400/- to Rs.3500/- per day per head. The accommodation will be arranged on full payment of room tariff in advance in addition to the delegate fee. No TA & DA will be paid to the participants. An advance intimation about travel plan of the delegates will be much appreciated. How to Reach the Seminar Venue The city of Tiruchirappalli is located in Tamil Nadu, which is on the southern part of India. The city is also well known by its shorter form of ?Trichy? and it is located almost at mid point in the State of Tamil Nadu along the banks of Cauvery River. This is the birthplace of Sir. C.V. Raman, world famous scientist and Nobel Prize Winner. Trichy enjoys a moderate climate. The maximum temperature during summer is approximately 37oC while during winter it dips to a low of 20oC . Therefore, the best time to visit Trichy is from October to March. The Trichy airport is located 5 Kms from the city. Indian Airlines connects Trichy with Chennai, Sharjah, Kuwait and Colombo. Trichy is an important junction in the Southern Railway. It is connected to Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Tirupati, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore, Kochi, Kanyakumarai and Mangalore on the broad gauge and Tuticorin and Rameswaram by the meter gauge. Trichy is also well connected by road with important places in South India.
The main campus of Bharathidasan University is located 16 kms away from Trichy City on Trichy- Pudukkottai Highway (NH-45) and 350 kms from Chennai. The simplest and most economical way to reach University from Trichy City is by bus. Any city bus at Trichy will take you to the central bus stand, board Pudukkottai - bound bus. K-1 series of town bus are available every 45 minutes from Central Bus Stand, Trichy. The journey time from Trichy will be around 30 minutes. The executive way of reaching University will be hiring a taxi. Taxis may charge around Rs.300/-. Program Schedule Day One- Saturday, January 10, 2009
