Following below is an artice on How to be more creative?

Learn To Be More Creative

1. Step Back
Don't become nervous. Try some relaxation techniques. This first step will not necessarily require you to sit buck-naked in a darkened room and listen to the sounds of mating humpback whales. Believe it or not, there are ways to strike inspiration which don't require that you first draw the curtains and dim the lights.

To begin, simply take an hour to look over all the information you have that directly pertains to the problem. While reviewing this information, don't bother to dwell on any particular aspect. Think of your brain as a computer: You are simply feeding it data for storage, which will be processed at a later point. Now you've uploaded the information, and it's time to incubate.

At the end of the hour, put the notebooks, memos, research, and other assorted papers away. There are creativity specialists who believe that when you take a break from something you're working on, your mind continues to consider the problem, even when you've gone on to a totally different task.

It's a subconscious process that we aren't even aware is happening. All we know is that one day we have an unsolvable problem that keeps getting worse, and the next day it's solved.

2. Take The Left Path
The concept behind the hot air balloon was born one afternoon when the Montgolfier brothers watched scraps of burnt paper rise from the fireplace and sail up the chimney on a current of heated air.

In the early 1950s, George deMestral went for a walk in the countryside and was hoarded by hundreds of cockleburs clinging to his jacket, and just like that, Velcro was invented. This goes to show that makings of great ideas are all around us.

Virtually any object has the potential to reach out and trigger your mind. I have found that surrounding yourself in unfamiliar places with new sights and sounds encourages the brain to make totally new creative connections. So stop your everyday routine and drive a different road to or from work tomorrow.

3. Laugh
I've discovered that the most productive brainstorming meetings are the ones where everyone is laughing and having a good time. In fact, the more I've watched the connection between humor and creativity, the more I've realized that there is very little difference between the terms "Aha!" and "Ha Ha!"

Psychologists say that a positive effect seems to boost our ability to relate and integrate divergent material. Did you get that? I didn't think so. To put it plainly, a good laugh can be the prelude to a good idea. So read the comics or watch your favorite sitcom for half an hour before your brainstorming session.

4. Set Parameters
Time to get down to business. The first thing you should do is situate yourself near a window. Try to bring as much stimuli for your brain as possible. Then take a good long look at the problem you need to solve.

If confronted with challenges, start writing them down. Then always remember that the most creative ideas always break with tradition. Unspoken rules have no place in a brainstorming session.

And finally, try coming up with a few dozen ideas. This will help the cognitive process along, and you will notice that the smaller the ideas that you write down are, the bigger they get as you reach Idea # 24.

5. Blast Off!
Now you're ready to narrow down your ideas and choose the best ones. If you get stuck again, don't worry. Just go through steps 1-4 again. Most important of all, don't rush things. A hint of nervousness can dry up those creative juices.

Lastly, organize your thoughts and ideas on paper, and read them out loud to a family member or a friend. An outside source of input can be invaluable.

Having run the gamut of techniques, all that's left now are two warnings:

- Warning #1: As hard as this may be to believe, the first few times you try this process you may not come up with a 100-million dollar idea that will change the face of the business world. That's okay. Creativity, much like anything else, takes practice. Soon enough, you'll be awed by your own brilliance. When that happens...
- Warning #2: Try not to look too pleased with yourself. Nothing is more annoying than someone who shows up at every meeting with 30 great ideas.

On that note, grab a pen and paper and let your juices flow!
