The Centre for Disaster Management, Tezpur University is organizing two training programmes on Flood and Earthquake Risk Mitigation during June – July, 2008. These programmes are sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India and National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi.

OBJECTIVES

® To provide information about flood and earthquake risk of N-E India.

® To give an overview on various structural and non-structural measures for preparedness and damage mitigation.

® To provide knowledge on role of remote sensing and GIS in disaster management.

® To develop administrative capabilities to plan and implement preparedness and mitigation strategies.

® To discuss about instant rescue and relief operations, medical and paramedical attention etc. during flood and earthquake disasters.

® Other issues pertaining to disaster management.

® Senior and middle level government officers from concerned departments.

® Teachers from colleges and schools.

® Members of NGOs and CBOs.
