I. ELIGIBILITY FOR 4-SEMESTER P.G. COURSES IN
ENGG./TECH./ARCH./PHARM COURSES:
Category(A) – GATE/NET: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch. Or M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD) and qualified through GATE/NET.
OR
Passed Membership/Associate Membership Examination in the appropriate discipline conducted by all professional bodies, like Institution of Engineers (India)/Indian Institute of Architects/Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers/ Institute of Electronics Telecommunication Engineers etc. approved by Govt. of India, with at lest 60% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PD) and qualified through GATE are eligible for admission for to PG courses in Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm. as GATE category candidates.
Category(B) – Sponsored: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch or M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD) & Minimum 2 years experience after Bachelor’s degree also duly sponsored by Industry / Institute/ Govt. Deptts.
Category(C) – Self-Sponsored: Obtained Bachelor’s degree in Engg./Tech./ Pharm./Arch or M.Sc./M.A. as given in the Schedule below with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PD).
However, candidates who have appeared / are due to appear at the qualifying examinations (B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Pharm./M.Sc./ M.A./AMIE Sec. A & B / AIIA) may also apply and such candidates, if selected, will be admitted if they can submit valid proof of their passing the qualifying examination with required percentage of marks at the time of Interview. If the results are awaited on the date of interview such selected candidates shall have to submit the mark sheet of the qualifying examination within 3 months from the date of commencement of 1st semester classes failing which or if the candidate is found to be not eligible in terms of percentage of marks obtained, his/her provisional admission will be cancelled.
"As per circular No. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt. 06/08/1984 & BCD-I , D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL) dt. 08/01/1990 and letter No. 1510-SCW dt. 31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Person of the State other than West Bengal are not entitled to get benefits of the State for SC/ST in Educational Institutions in West Bengal."

C) The selected candidates for admission are asked to get admission in respective specialization positively by 12.06.2008 from 10 a.m. to 1-30 p.m. failing which their selection may be cancelled without further reference.
D) The Wait Listed Candidate will asked to appear on 16.06.2008 at 11 a.m. to 12-30 p.m. for consider his/her name against the existing vacancy of different courses in the Office of 5
Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. and the list of successful candidate will be displayed on the next day in the F.E.T. Office as well as University web site.
E) Such successful wait-listed candidates selected for admission will be asked to get themselves admitted by 19.06.2008 failing which their selection may be treated as cancelled.
F) The Wait Listed Candidate who had appeared on 16.06.2008 but did not gate selection will be asked to appear on 23.06.2008 at 11 a.m. to 12-30 p.m. for consider his/her name against the existing vacancy of different courses in the Office of Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. and the list of successful candidate will be displayed on the next day in the F.E.T. Office as well as University web site.
G) Such successful wait-listed candidates selected for admission will be asked to get themselves admitted on 02.07.2008 failing which their selection may be treated as cancelled.
I) First Semester Classes be commenced on 01.07.2008.
J) The Wait Listed Candidates who had appeared to the Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. Office on 23.06.2008 but did not get selection for admission on that date. They are asked to report to the Principal Secretary, F.E.T., on the 30th working day after the date of commencement of classes (i.e. 04.08.2008) for being considered in the vacancies, if any, created due to withdrawal by the already admitted candidates.

READ CAREFULLY IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FILLINGUP THE APPLICATION FORM:
Applicants are advised to submit the Application Form either Online OR to download the Application Form & Information Brochure from our web site www.jadavpur.edu
A) Applicants, who will submit the application form on line, are requested to take the print out of the acknowledgement having the Application Number. The Draft of Rs.100/- from any Natinalised Bank for each Course of Study in favour of ‘Jadavpur University’ along with the print out of the acknowledgement has to be sent to the Principal Secretary, Faculty of Engg. & Tech., Jadavpur University within the last date (i.e. 11.04.2008). The applicants are requested to keep one copy of acknowledgement for future reference.
B) Eligible Applicants are advised to download the admit card for the entrance test and/or interview .
C) In the case of non-received of Admit Card through ONLINE by an eligible candidate he/she should contact the Office of Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. at least 3 days before the date of respective entrance test along with the photo copy of acknowledgement and draft.
D) Properly filled in Downloaded Application Form is to be sent by Post to the Principal Secretary, Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech., Jadavpur University, along with requisite Bank Draft of Rs.100/- from any Nationalised Bank for each Course of study in favour of “Jadavpur University” payable at Kolkata. No Form will be received after last date (i.e. 11.04.2008).
E) In the case of non-received of Admit Card through ONLINE by an eligible candidate who have sent their application from by Post, he/she should contact the Office of the Faculty Council of Engg. & Tech. at least 3 days before the date of respective entrance test along with the photo copy of the application from, draft and postal receipt.

F) The list of candidates called for the entrance test and/or interview will be posted on the University web sit.
G) Application Form No., Name of the Candidate and Name of the Course should be written clearly on the reverse of the Bank Draft.
THE CANDIDATE SHOULD BE BROUGHT OF THE FOLLOWING ATTESTED DOCUMENTS ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION TEST AND/OR INTERVIEW AND ALSO THE TIME OF ADMISSION:
1. Admit Card and Score Card of GATE / NET (if applicable).
3. Final year / 3rd year 2nd Semester / 4th year 1st Semester Grade Card or Mark-sheet.
4. Original Mark-sheet and Certificates of Secondary or equivalent, H.S. or equivalent, B.E. or B.Tech., B.Sc., M.Sc., B.A., M.A.
5. Family Income Certificate from the competent authority.
THE CANDIDATE SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. Use separate Application Form for Separate Course/s.
2. A candidate can not apply for more than 3 (three) Course of Study.
3. If applied for more than 3 courses, then all the applications are liable to be cancelled.
4. Photocopy of the Application Form is not acceptable.
5. Failure to appear at the Admission Test and Interview / Admission Test on the specified date shall cancel his/her candidature without any further reference.
6. Final pass mark-sheet should be submitted within 3 months from the date of admission.
7. Registration of application does not confer any right of the applicant to be called for interview.
8. Originals and one set attested copies of testimonials should be produced at the time of Admission Test & Interview And Admission after final selection.
9. The Admission Committee reserves the right of not selection any candidate who is considered physically unfit or otherwise unsuitable.
10. All J.U. courses are not residential. Hostel seats are not guaranteed.
11. A declaration from the employer that the candidate shall be granted study leave for 24 months, if he/she gets selection for admission to P.G. Engg./Tech./Arch./Pharm. courses of Jadavpur University (applicable to only Category – B candidates only) be submitted at the time of Admission.
